After a whirlwind weekend at the 24th Annual Circle City Classic in Indianapolis, undefeated lightweight boxer “Merciless” Mary McGee (11-0, 6 KOs) has returned to Gary to get back to business. “What a great weekend and what a great city,” McGee said. “But now it’s back to training and staying focused on winning my first title on October 19th at the Circle City Rumble in Indy..”
During the weekend’s festivities, McGee was inundated with autograph seeking fans. “It was humbling to have so many people ask for my autograph,” McGee said. ” I especially loved meeting the kids and taking pictures with them.”
Following the football game at the RCA Dome, McGee was honored to represent the City of Gary at a gala reception hosted by the Common Council. Later, she was happy to accommodate another crowd that formed as she posed for yet more photos in front of Indy’s famed State Soldiers’ and Sailors’ Monument.
On October 19th, McGee faces Tawnyah “No Fear” Freeman (8-4, 3 KOs) for the NABC lightweight title in the Hall of Champions at the Adam’s Mark Hotel. “No Fear” indeed, Freeman has gone on the road to fight some of the sport’s best women boxers including Agnieszka Rylik and Jessica Rakoczy.
“It sure seems like Mary took Indy by storm,” Octavius James, CEO of One In A Million Inc. said. “But Mary shouldn’t feel too comfortable boxing ‘at home’ in Indy. Tawnyah Freeman is a very tough girl who loves to fight on the road and has every intention of winning this fight.”
In addition to the women’s championship bout, Indy fight fan favorites “Downtown” Louis Brown (15-3, 10 KOs) and Frankie “Panchito” Zepeda (16-5, 9 KOs) will be featured separately on the six-bout card. In another women’s bout, 2-time Chicago Golden Gloves Champion Evette Collazo goes for her second win as a professional featherweight.
