Juan Carlos Gomez: “I will end the career of ‘The Atomic Bull’!”

They couldn’t have spent the weekend before their big fight more different: While WBC International Champion Oliver McCall went to Genezareth church in Berlin-Neukölln this Sunday and was invited for tea afterwards his challenger Juan Carlos Gomez helped electing “Miss Venus 2007” in noble “Adagio” nightclub Saturday night. “Venus” is the name of the world biggest exhibition for adult entertainment which take places in Berlin’ Estrel Convention Center next weekend – the venue of arena’s “Champion’s Night” on October 19th..

Gomez: “Electing ‘Miss Venus’ was fun – though I already found my personal ‘Venus’, my girlfriend Dianelys. None of the girls in here can compete with her. For me it was just a promotional date anyways. I am totally focussed on the fight. Next Friday I will beat McCall to become No. 1 contender on the World Championship and win the title next year. I won’t blow this chance!”

Gomez proofed his concentration on McCall by leaving the election right after he had voted instead of waiting for the results and joining the long after show party. Promoter Ahmet Öner (who was part of the jury himself) and Cuban Olympic Champions Odlanier Solis and Yuriorkis Gamboa showed more stamina.

Öner: “We decided to cooperate with ‘Venus’ so it is part of our job to take promotional dates – not the worst part as I may add. Promotions like this are okay as long as they don’t harm preparation for the fight. Juan is so focused and he’s definitely in his best physical shape since ascending from cruiser- to heavyweight. I bet he knocks out McCall.”

Gomez: “I respect Oliver McCall’s religion and I think it’s great that he found friends in a German church. But next Friday praying won’t save him from losing. I will end the career of ‘The Atomic Bull’!”
