Herbie Hide Back In Action On December 23

Former two-times WBO Heavyweight Champion Herbie Hide (36) is going for gold again. On December 23rd in Halle (Saale) “the Dancing Destroyer” faces Mikhail Nasyrov from Russia for the vacant WBC International Cruiserweight Championship. Rudolf Kraj had relinquished the belt after his last successful defence on December 6th because he is fighting an Elimination bout for the World Championship next. To become World Cruiserweight Champion is exactly what Herbie is aiming for as well..

Herbie: “I would have loved to strip the belt from Kraj by beating him in the ring. But to be honest I don’t care who I’m fighting. I am the best Cruiserweight in the world today anyways. Maybe I get the chance to proof that I’m better than Kraj in a World Championship bout next year.”

And who would be Herbie’s favourite opponent in a possible fight for the World title?

Herbie: “I don’t care – I’ll beat everyone who’s wearing a belt! The most prestigious fight would probably be one against David Haye. All England is waiting to see us go at it! And I tell you, I would be cutting Hay(e) big time!”

To get there Herbie has to beat unbeaten Nasyrov (18-0-0) in the first place. “The Dancing Destroyer” is very confident that the strong Russian won’t stop him on his way.

Herbie: “I feel great. I’ve been training in Hamburg for eight or nine months to get the chance to fight for a title again. This Russian boy better calls the police because “The Master of Disaster” is coming to get him!”

ARENA’s show on December 23rd features eight fights in total including Odlanier Solis in a WBC Latino Championship bout and the German Interim Heavyweight Championship between Konstantin Airich and Turhan Altunkaya. Eurosport (Germany) and Fox Türk will broadcast the fights live from Halle.
