Philadelphia (January 17th, 2008)—On Friday night February 8th, Lenny DeVictoria will return to the same ring where he engaged in the Philadelphia fight of the year in 2007. DeVictoria, who engaged in a memorable brawl with Elad Shmouel on December 7th, will headline a great night of boxing when he takes on tough veteran Carlos Cisneros on a card promoted by Vernoca L. Michael and Blue Horizon Boxing Promotions at The Legendary Blue Horizon in Philadelphia..
DeVictoria, 10-10 with three knockouts of Philadelphia valiantly came off the deck to stop Shmouel in round six of their scheduled eight round Jr. Welterweight bout last December 7th. With chants of “Lenny Lenny Lenny” DeVictoria dug down deep and stood toe-to-toe with Shmouel and traded thudding punches at close range until he gained the advantage and finally stopped Shmouel.
That fight could have turned the career of DeVictoria around as he was thrown in with some of the biggest prospects in the world and dropped some close decisions to those elite level fighters.
This will be DeVictoria’s tenth start at the Legendary Blue Horizon. (5-4)
Cisneros of Los Angeles via El Salvador is a lot like DeVictoria as he has a very deceiving record of 8-15-1 with five knockouts. Twelve of those fifteen defeats were to undefeated fighters. Cisneros has showed he is more then capable as he has defeated three undefeated fighters.
In Cisneros last outing, He dropped a close unanimous decision to Tim Coleman (9-0) in Coleman’s home area of Maryland.
The co-feature will be an “Old School” showdown of Philadelphia Middleweights when Gee Cullmer and Joe Christy slug it out over eight rounds.
Cullmer, 12-1 with three knockouts will be making his eighth consecutive start at The Legendary Blue Horizon (6-0, 1 NC) and is coming off a six round majority decision over Marcos Brooks on December 7th.
Christy, 8-12-3 with three knockouts has become a fan favorite in the Philadelphia boxing scene for his come forward style. “Kid Vicious” has also been one of the most active fighters in the city as this will be his eleventh start since July of 2006.
Christy is coming off a six round unanimous decision defeat to Mustapha Johnson on November 9.
This will be Christy’s fourth appearance at The Legendary Blue Horizon.
February 8th will stage the pro debut of Andres Holmgren of Sweden. Holmgren will make the cross-continent trek to take on Shawn McClain of New York City.
McClain 2-1 with one stoppage is coming off a controversial split decision over Kamarah Pasley on December 7th at The Legendary Blue Horizon.
Pasley will be back in action in a four Heavyweight bout against debuting Ahmed Samir of Egypt.
Good looking Middleweight prospect, Naji Murray (2-0, 1 KO) will see action in a scheduled four round bout against an opponent yet to be named.
Two Philadelphia fighters making their pro debuts in separate bouts will be Jr. Welterweight Jules Edmonds & Featherweight Tavon Walker in four round bouts.
