Philadelphia, PA—Two of the best featherweight prospects on the East Coast, Teon Kennedy, of Philadelphia, PA, and Thomas “K.O.” Snow, of Capitol Heights, MD, collide in the eight-round main event Friday evening, July 18, at the New Alhambra, Swanson & Ritner Streets, next to Forman Mills, in South Philadelphia. First of seven fights at 7.30 p.m..
The co-feature matches light-heavyweights Richard Stewart, of New Castle, DE, against Chuck “The Professor” Mussachio, of Wildwood, NJ, in an eight-round showdown.
CN8 will televise the show on a 24-hour delay basis to more than nine million homes from Maine to Virginia and Washington, DC.
Kennedy, 22, scored his career-best win in his last fight March 7 when he earned an eight-round decision over Castulo Gonzalez, of Lowell, MA, at the New Alhambra.
A pro less than 18 months, Kennedy is 8-0, 4 K0s. He was the National Golden Gloves champion in 2004 at 112 pounds.
Snow, 27, last boxed Dec. 15 when he knocked out Terrance Roy, of Covington, TN, in two rounds in Ashburn, VA.
A pro since 2005, Snow is 10-0, 8 K0s. He also had a notable amateur career, losing in the 2003 National Golden Gloves semifinals at 119 pounds and in the 2004 National Golden Gloves quarter-finals.
The Stewart-Mussachio fight was signed after months of trash talk on both sides.
Stewart, 32, is the older brother of former junior welterweight contender Mike “No Joke” Stewart.
A pro since 2004, Richard is 14-5-2, 8 K0s, but was upset in his last fight Dec. 12 in Hockessin, DE, when he lost on points to Antonio Baker, of Fayetteville, NC. Prior to that, he drew with Jameel Wilson, of Philadelphia, PA, at The Spectrum. Both were eight-round bouts.
Mussachio, 28, a schoolteacher, is 11-0-1, 5 K0s. He also comes off a non-winning outing, having boxed a six-round draw Feb. 15 in Atlantic City, NJ, with Zeferino Albino, of Philadelphia, PA.
Each man defeated Cameron Bright, of Philadelphia, PA, their only common opponent. Stewart won by decision, Mussachio by knockout.
Hard-hitting cruiserweight Larry Robinson meets Simon “One Punch” Carr in an all-South Philadelphia showdown over six rounds.
Robinson, 32, got off the floor in the first round May 9 and knocked out William Bailey, of Chesapeake, VA, in the second round at the Alhambra. Robinson is 9-3, 7 K0s.
Carr, 31, is 4-1-1, 3 K0s. Last time out Aug. 7 he drew over six-rounds with Andre Hemphill, of North Philadelphia.
Four prelims complete the seven-fight card.
