Two Key Dates Announced By Golden Boy – Haye To Fight November 29th, De La Hoya December 6th

by James Slater: Golden Boy Promotions have announced the dates for two of boxing’s most anticipated bouts. According to a news article by Dan Rafael of ESPN, heavyweight David Haye, who is now ranked at number 5 by the WBC, will face a top-ten contender on November the 29th. And then, on December the 6th, Oscar De La Hoya will box for the very last time. Haye’s fight will take place at The 02 Arena in London, and De La Hoya’s final fight will take place in Las Vegas..

According to Rafael, there is a strong chance Haye will fight the winner of the July match-up between James Toney and Hasim Rahman. This would be a good fight for “The Hayemaker” as he makes his heavyweight re-debut. Neither Toney or Rahman are overly dangerous due to their age and where they are at this stage in their careers, but both are big names and can still talk a great fight. In other words, The O2 Arena would very likely be sold out should Haye face either guy.

As for De La Hoya, his farewell fight will come against none other than Miguel Cotto – if Cotto gets past Antonio Margarito in July. This would be some way for Oscar to go out – win or lose.

It seems Golden Boy Promotions are very much one of the best teams out there at putting on titanic fights when they are in the mood to do so – a De La hoya-Miguel Cotto showdown being about as big a fight as their is today. Proving they can get the big names together due to their power and influence, Golden Boy are huge players in the world of boxing right now.

Let’s hope both proposed fights do come off. Haye’s projected fight would be a great way to begin a new chapter in his boxing career. While De La Hoya’s proposed bout would be a sensational way for Oscar to write the final chapter on his great career.
