#1 IBF Mandatory Cruiserweight and former WBC Light Heavyweight Champion Tomasz Adamek will hold a public workout on Tuesday, July 8th in Chicago as he returns to the city of his two greatest victories in his nine year career..
The public workout will take place at JABB Boxing Gym, 410 N. Oakley
(312-733-5222) at 2pm. Adamek is in town to headline THE RETURN OF THE POLISH WARRIOR this Friday night, July 11th as he battles Gary “THE PITBULL” Gomez of Salt Lake City, Utah at The Aragon Ballroom in the ESPN2 televised main event.
Adamek will be joined in the public workout by middleweight Andrzej Fonfara, super middleweight Piotr Wilczewski and heavyweight Mariusz Wach, all of whom will be fighting on Friday night.
The 31 year old Adamek, a native of Gilowice, Poland won the WBC light heavyweight against Paul Briggs on May 21, 2005 at the United Center in Chicago and defended the title in the rematch against Briggs on October 7, 2006. Both classic fights were blood filled battles from beginning to end and were listed near the top of many boxing writers “Fight of the Year” lists.
Most recently Adamek has moved up to cruiserweight, scoring an 8th round TKO of former world champion O’Neil Bell on April 19, 2008 in Katowice, Poland. Dominating the fight from the beginning, Adamek forced Bell to quit between the 7th and 8th rounds.
