West Australian whiz kid Cool Willie Kickett will be in action in the main support bout to Wednesday nights Big Bob Mirovic – John Hopoate Australian heavyweight title show down at the Gold Coast Convention Center. Kictett 21, sports an unblemished 12 – zip record with 5 Knockouts and in his most recent two outings has defeated top 15 world ranked opponents.. In June, on the under card to Jeff Fenech – Azumah Nelson 3, he defeated recent world IBF champion, and #14 contender Gary St Clair (40-6) and on August 22 he shut out WBO number 11 Vicente Martin Rodriguez (21-1).
Despite his success in those fights Kickett is yet to be ranked by the IBF or WBO but he sits at number 29 by the WBC. The IBO computerized listings have the Aboriginal star at number 28 but he expects to move up soon.
On Wednesday night he is pitted against Indonesian number 2, fellow 21 year old Zoel Fidal, who has a 16-5-2 record. The Jakatra fighter has faced good opposition in his career and is a southpaw. Kickett is expected to win but the visitor has a better KO rate than the Aussie and in the past decade no Indonesian has disappointed in trips to the Coast.
