King Arthur Abraham´s mandatory title defence against Raul Marquez will be special in more ways than just one. For the historic first time, digital plasma advertising boards will be employed around the ring. “This is a historical innovation,” said Kalle Sauerland, managing director for Kentaro Germany, Team Sauerland’s official marketing partners. “The plasma boards will convey the dynamism of boxing even better..”

In international football, a vast majority of teams have already chosen digital advertising boards over static systems. Team Sauerland are determined to now bring the state-of-the-art technology to boxing. King Arthur Abraham is also looking forward to the innovation. “That is another reason why my fight against Marquez will be remembered,” he stated.

The battle between the 28-year-old German, who is unbeaten in 27 fights (22 KOs), and his American mandatory challenger (41-3, 29 KOs) will be broadcast in more than 40 countries, including boxing homelands Great Britain (Nuts TV) and the U.S. (Integrated Sports).

David Lopez Headlining Fights at Desert Diamond Casino

(Tucson, Arizona) – Desert Diamond Casino and Golden Boy Promotions are at it again. On Friday, October 10, 2008, top pugilists from around the world will assemble at the Diamond Center for a showdown in the ring.

Headlining the card is local favorite David “The Destroyer” Lopez taking on Colombia’s Samuel Miller for the WBC Latino Middleweight Title. “The Destroyer” Lopez (36-12, 23 KOs), recently defeated Billy Lyell at the Diamond Center on August 1st. He’s returning to take on Colombian prospect Samuel Miller (18-2, 15 KOs).
The televised co-main event features one of boxing’s greats. Kevin Kelley (60-8-2, 39 KOs), aka Flushing Flash, is a former WBC world champion and has battled it out with the likes of Naseem Hamed, Marco Antonio Barrera, and Erik Morales. He’ll face rising star “Dangerous” David Rodela (10-1-2, 6 KOs).

Austin “No Doubt” Trout (15-0, 11 KOs), out of Las Cruces, New Mexico, will compete in the 8-round jr. middleweight event as part of the undercard. His opponent has not yet been announced.

Twins Carlos Velasquez (9-0, 8 KOs) and Juan Velasquez (9-0, 5 KOs) out of Puerto Rico, are also scheduled to appear on the undercard. They’ll each compete in an 8-round bout; neither opponent has yet to be named.

Rounding out the card is the 2005 Junior Olympics bronze medalist, Jermell Charlo (5-0, 4 KOs), fighting out of Houston, TX.

“400 people have registered to attend the World Boxing Council’s 46th Annual Convention, to be held in Chengdu, China, from November 2 to November 8.

“The 10 Continental Federations will attend, representing the 164 countries that are affiliated with the WBC, and the 2004-2008 administrative period will be ended. It is an election year for the officers for the 2008-2012 term.

“Last year in Manila, the president of the Philippines, Mrs. Gloria Macapagal Arroyo, personally opened the convention. In 2006 in Dubrovnik-Cavtat, the convention was opened by the president of Croatia, Stjepan “Stipe” Mesic. In past years WBC conventions have been opened by great statesmen such as Nelson Mandela, Maha Vajiralongkorn, the Prince of Thailand, Saul Menem and others.

“The 46th WBC annual convention will be the official opening to professional boxing in a country which has a population of 1.3 billion, and a sensational boxing card will be held in Chengdu on November 7. The show will be the closing ceremony of the convention.”
