LAS VEGAS, NEV. (October 6, 2008) — Undefeated former World Boxing Council (WBC) light heavyweight champion “BAD” CHAD DAWSON is ready to dig for gold when he challenges International Boxing Federation (IBF) / International Boxing Organization (IBO) light heavyweight champion Antonio Tarver next Saturday in Las Vegas..
“Drill baby, drill! That’s what I’m going to do to Anphonyo Tarver when I finally get that 14-carat chump into the ring,” said Dawson from his Las Vegas-based training camp. “At least I won’t have to go offshore to get my hands on him. Tarver’s going to need a financial bailout to pay for a new set of teeth. I just hope his dentist gets the cash up front because ‘Old Chapter 7’ isn’t the most reliable when it comes to paying off his debts. Getting rid of Tarver is not just my mission, it’s a public service!”
Promoted by AT Entertainment and Gary Shaw Productions, the Tarver-Dawson world light heavyweight championship fight takes place Next Saturday! October 11, in the Pearl Theater at the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas Nev. The fight will be televised live on SHOWTIME Championship Boxing, beginning at 9 p.m. ET/PT (delayed on the west coast) along with the same-day delay of the Samuel Peter-Vitali Klitschko WBC heavyweight title battle in Berlin, Germany.
Dawson (26-0, 17 KOs), from New Haven, Conn., captured the WBC title, February 3, 2007, winning a unanimous decision over undefeated defending champion Tomasz Adamek. After three successful title defenses, Dawson vacated the title earlier this summer so that he could challenge Tarver in his next fight. Tarver (27-4, 19 KOs), from Tampa, is in his third reign as world champion. Boasting world title victories over Roy Jones, Jr. and Glen Johnson, Tarver returns to the ring after handily defeating defending IBF champion Clinton Woods via a 12-round unanimous decision in Tampa last April.

Montano – Mora to Co-Headline
TACOMA, WA – Two of the Northwest’s favorite fighters return to the ring on the 69th installment of the Emerald Queen Casino’s Battle at the Boat Professional Boxing series, October 25, 2008, first show starts at 7:00pm.
Othello, Washington’s David Torres (20-1, 13KOs) coming off of his first professional defeat will face Mexico’s Zaid Zavaleta (18-4, 11KOs) in an 8 round fight. Torres lost to world title contender Julio Diaz (34-4-0) in a fight broadcast live on ESPN 2 from the Playboy Mansion. “David needs to win this fight,” said promoter Brian Halquist. “Diaz is a world title contender and David has nothing to feel bad about. He needs to bounce back and win this fight and show the boxing fans what David Torres is all about” said Halquist.
Another Northwest favorite Roger Cantrell (12-1, 8 KOs) will face Bakersfield, California’s Billy Bailey (7-2, 2KOs) in a 6 round Light Heavyweight showdown. Cantrell, like Torres, is coming off a televised loss to Olympic Gold Medalist Andre Wand in a fight broadcast on Showtime from St. Lucia. “It’s great to have Roger and David both fighting on the same card. They both really need to win their fights. They have both gotten some great world wide exposure with their last fights and there is so much on the line for them,” Halquist said. “The Northwest fight fans have backed both David and Roger throughout their careers and to have them come back and fight in the northwest is fantastic.”
The card will also feature a 10 round main event featuring another fighter coming off a Nationally Televised loss, Anthony Mora (15-2, 10 KOs), who faces Ramón Montaro (16-5, 1 KO) in a Super Lightweight Showdown. “This fight is a promoter’s dream fight; you have three fighters coming off nationally televised losses; boxers who are fighting for their careers, fighting to show they deserve another shot.
