Antonio Tarver Workout Quotes

IBF and IBO light heavyweight champion Antonio Tarver participated in a media workout at Mayweather Boxing Club in Las Vegas on Tuesday as he winds down preparation for his highly anticipated clash with undefeated former WBC light heavyweight champion Chad Dawson. The two kingpins will battle for light heavyweight supremacy on Saturday, Oct. 11, live on SHOWTIME CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING from The Pearl Theatre at Palms Casino.

Immediately prior to the light heavyweight world championship, on a night that has electrified the boxing world, SHOWTIME will present the World Boxing Council (WBC) heavyweight showdown between Samuel Peter and Vitali Klitschko on a tape-delayed basis from Berlin, Germany.

Tarver-Dawson will be promoted by AT Entertainment and Gary Shaw Productions in association with Palms Casino Resort Las Vegas from The Pearl Theatre at Palms Casino.

Below are some quotes from today’s workout:

“We ARE ready!

“We have been working in training camp long and hard for this fight. My team really came together for this fight.

“Dawson will bring out the best in me and trust me, NO ONE has seen the best in me yet!

“Dawson is not on the level of the guys I have already fought…Roy Jones, Glen Johnson, Bernard Hopkins. He’s like every other opponent I have faced. They always have a Master Gameplan…until I hit them in the mouth.

“Chad will not be safe on October 11th. His handlers made a big mistake rushing him into a fight with me. He has decent power when he’s hitting someone standing in front of him. Let’s see how he does with a moving target.

“This is a big fight for me. A big money fight for me. I came from nothing. This is big money to me. Believe me I know how big this fight is. It’s my chance to prove that I’m still the best”

“BAD” CHAD DAWSON TO WEAR COVGLOVE THIS SATURDAY WHEN HE FIGHTS ANTONIO TARVER ON SHOWTIME

PHILADELPHIA (October 10, 2008)—This Saturday night, one of the most anticipated bout of the year happens when IBF Light Heavyweight, Antonio Tarver defends against Chad Dawson in a showdown that has been building for more then a year.

Dawson, 26-0 with seventeen knockouts was the WBC Light Heavyweight champion until he was stripped of the belt in order to participate in this showdown, will be wearing boxing’s latest innovation.

Dawson will be wearing the CovGlove. The CovGlove is a leather sleeve that is placed over the tape and secures the tape from coming loose and interrupting the action in the ring.

CovGlove has been worn in some of the highest profile fights in the recent months.

Joshua Clottey wore the CovGlove in his IBF Welterweight title winning effort over Zab Judah this past August.

Both Alfredo Angulo & Andrey Tsurkan wore the product when the squared off Last Saturday in their Jr. Welterweight affair.

“After the Clottey fight, my phone has been ringing off the hook from fighters and promoters who want to use the product” said CovGlove founder David Price.

“I want to thank Dawson for wearing the CovGlove in this great fight as well as Angulo who wore the CovGlove last weekend. It means a lot when Gary Shaw, who was a long time commission member and regulator of the sport gives his approval for the CovGlove.

I also want to thank Tsurkan & his promoter (Star Boxing’s) Joe DeGuardia for their support of the CovGlove for that great event.”
