Amir Khan Wants Return Fight With Breidis Prescott, Says Freddie Roach Has Advised Him To Take It

Amir Khanby James Slater – Amir Khan has not yet even won his first fight back since being sensationally knocked out in 54 seconds by Colombian Breidis Prescott, yet Khan has been telling the press he wants a rematch with the big puncher in the near future. Khan, who is now trained by Freddie Roach, returns to the ring on December 6th, against tough and capable Irishman Oisin Fagan, but he is already planning the day he will avenge his loss to Prescott.

“I spoke to Freddie and he said if you can get that fight again then go for it, because you can beat him and do a clinical job on him so it’s a fight in the future I would like to have,” Khan said. “I have learned from my mistakes. I still have my goals and my ambitions that I want to achieve. It [the loss to Prescott] has knocked me back a bit but I am still going to do my job.

“I spoke to Ricky Hatton before I came out here [to L.A] and he said that that punch would have knocked him out. Prescott was a tough opponent. He had a 95 percent [KO] rate so he was no mug. In a couple of fights’ time I will be back up at the top again and then it will be my turn.”

It’s interesting that Khan speaks of Prescott in the past tense, saying that he “had” a 95 percent KO rate, and that he “was” no mug. Khan should be aware that Prescott is still as dangerous as he was when destroying him and that he is still no mug. The 22-year-old former Olympic medallist’s attitude is good, but I’m sure I won’t be alone when I say Khan should forget all about Prescott, at least for the time being. What would happen if the two met again and the same thing happened? Khan’s career would be all but over, that’s what.

His upcoming December 6th fight with Fagan is all that should be concerning Khan right about now. However, Khan is confident Roach will make him a better fighter.

“Freddie has trained all the best fighters and if he tells me I can go all the way then it gives me more confidence,” Khan said. “He is a great trainer. He has made me relax and enjoy the sport more. I’ve realised it’s not all about going in there being direct. I should be going in there and trying to catch them out. I should be doing that with my speed. If I had the fight [with Prescott] now I would go into it totally different. I would be more careful and use my brain more.”

Many fans are very interested to see if Khan can come back from the 1st round KO he suffered. The first phase of “The New” Amir Khan takes place three weeks tomorrow.
