Indianapolis, IN-Less than a week away from his November 29th Homecoming fight in Indianapolis, NABA heavyweight champion “Relentless” Lamon Brewster remains very confident approaching his 12-round clash with former WBA heavyweight champion Bruce Seldon. “I’m feeling relaxed and ready. I’ve done everything I could do to prepare for Seldon. I’m a man of God and I’m going to leave it all in His hands. I feel very good about this fight.” The show is the sophomore effort of Brewster’s own Relentless Events in association with Colin Bates’ CBelieve..
Brewster, (34-4, 30 KO) and Seldon, (39-8, 35 KO) are set to meet this coming Saturday night at Conseco Fieldhouse in Indianapolis. Both warriors bring imposing knockout records and the hearts of champions to the table.
Brewster won the WBO heavyweight title in 2004 with a fifth round TKO over Wladimir Klitschko. He made three successful defenses of the title, including devastating knockouts of Andrew Golota and Luan Krasniqi. This will be Brewster’s first fight since knocking out Danny Batchelder this past August in Cincinnati.
Seldon won the WBA heavyweight title with a knockout of Tony Tucker and made one successful defense before losing it to Mike Tyson. Over the span of his exciting career he has faced six heavyweight champions. Seldon was last in the ring a little over two weeks ago, blasting out Brad Gregory in two rounds in his hometown of Atlantic City, NJ.
“I expect him to come in guns blazing and be at his best,” Brewster says of his opponent. “He realizes this is an opportunity to make a name for himself. It’s going to be a showdown. He’s no one to take lightly, his record speaks for himself. He’s beaten some big names in the past and it’s my job to not become a statistic.
“I feel like this is destiny for me to be fighting in front of my hometown. I am determined to put on a great fight and to show that I am truly the best heavyweight out there.”
In the co-main event, two-time heavyweight title challenger “Fast” Fres Oquendo of Chicago will face tough contender Gabe Brown, (18-9, 12 KO) of Pensacola for the WBC Latino heavyweight title. Oquendo, (29-4, 18 KO) is looking to extend his winning streak to four since dropping a controversial decision to the legendary Evander Holyfield in 2006. Oquendo has scored impressive knockout wins over Clifford Etienne, David Izon and Maurice Harris.
Former light-heavyweight title challenger George “Honey Boy” Blades of Indianapolis will be in action against an opponent to be named. Blades, (21-4, 15 KO) challenged for the WBO light-heavyweight title last year, giving Zsolt Erdei all he could handle in his native Hungary for 11 rounds. His road back to the top begins at home in a six-round contest.
In a 6-round battle, former IBF cruiserweight champion Kelvin “Concrete” Davis (24-9, 17 KO) will face James Brock. Davis of Reno, NV won the title with a knockout victory over Ezra Sellers in 2004. Davis’ exciting brawling style always makes for compelling contests and this one figures to be no different.
Rugged contender Danny Batchelder, (25-6-1, 12 KO) of Saratoga, NY will face the globe-trotting warrior Otis Tisdale, (25-22-1, 15 KO) of Charlotte, NC in a six-round heavyweight attraction. Batchelder is trained by former world champion Roger Mayweather.
Youngstown, OH heavyweight Chris Koval (24-4, 18 KO) looks to move himself into title contention with a win over Cruz “El Toro” Quintana of Kearney, NE.
Local heavyweight favorite Enrique “Yaqui” Ruiz, (20-4, 16 KO) will also be in action in a four-round contest.

ROCK ALLEN vs. HUMBERTO TAPIA IN SEMIFINAL CONTEST DEC. 5 AT SOVEREIGN CENTER IN READING, PA
Reading, PA—Unbeaten junior welterweight Rock Allen, of Philadelphia, PA, will box Humberto Tapia, of Tijuana, Mexico, in the scheduled eight-round semifinal contest Friday evening, Dec. 5, at The Reading Eagle Theatre at the Sovereign Center, 700 Penn St reet. First fight begins at 7p.m.
Telefutura/Univision will televise the Allen-Tapia fight and well as the scheduled 10-round main event between welterweights Mike Jones, of Philadelphia, PA, and Luciano Perez, of Chicago, IL, on its popular Solo Boxeo series beginning at 8pm EST.
Allen, 27 was a member of the 2004 US Olympic Team, but his professional progress has been a slow. He has boxed only 20 times (13-0, 7 K0s) after 40 months as a pro. His only fight in the last 13 months came Sept. 12 in Grand Prarie, TX, when he earned a unanimous eight-round decision over Gilbert Vera, of Austin, TX. He boxed only twice in 2007.
“Today, there are too many microwave fighters,” said Nazim Richardson, father/trainer of Rock Allen. “You pop them in and out comes a glamorous record. We’re trying to build a fighter the right way, not rush him along with a lot of meaningless fights.”
Tapia, 22, is 13-8-1, 7 K0s. He has fought better opposition that Allen, having lost a 10-round split decision earlier this year to Jeffrey Resto, of the Bronx, NY, in Boston, MA. He also lost on points to world-rated Jose Reyes, of Caguas, Puerto Rico, and he out-pointed Ramon Montano, of Las Vegas, NV.
Five additional bouts complete the card.

Cleveland, OH – November 24, 2008 – The St. Clarence Hall in North Olmsted, Ohio was buzzing with excitement on Friday, November 21st, as Kincaid Godhard Promotions presented live professional boxing. Fans were treated 6 professional bouts and 4 preliminary amateur bouts.
In one of the feature fights of the evening Ryan “The Tank” Thompson from East Cleveland upped his record to (8-6, 6KO) with a 4 round unanimous decision victory over a very game Dione Craig (4-14, 1KO). Thompson battered Craig with a large volume of punches, especially in the last 2 rounds. Thompson is currently on a 3 fight win streak. Craig deserves credit for not only taking the fight on just 1 days notice, but also for fighting with a lot of heart.
In what was the fight of the night, cruiserweight Tanya “The Red Neck Mama” Colvin improved her record to (2-0, 1KO) with a 4 round unanimous decision victory over Elecia “Mega” Battle (3-2, 3KO). Colvin, who had little defense, ate a lot of jabs in the beginning of the fight. But she slowly wore down Battle during the fight with a relentless offense, and was on the verge of a stoppage when the bell sounded to end the fight.
Heavyweight sensation Andres “Taylor Made” Taylor (4-0-1, 1KO) from Johnstown, PA scored 2 knock downs in the first round to take home a 4 round unanimous decision victory over Mike Jones (5-15, 2KO). Jones valiantly fought his way back in to the fight, but could not shake the faster Taylor.
In the opening match heavyweight Justin Riegle (1-0) from Orrville, Ohio scored a split decision victory over Brian Cook (1-2, 1KO) from Nordonia, Ohio, in a spirited bout that could have went either way.
Cruiserweight Rayshawn “The Bully” Myers from Cleveland scored a first round TKO over Jason Williams from Kentucky. Myers used a wild and unorthodox offense to batter Williams for the TKO stoppage. Myers, who started his boxing career with 2 straight losses, moves his record to an even 2-2 with 2KO’s, Williams drops to 1-1.
In what was the fourth heavyweight bout of the night, Jason “Big Daddy” Massie from Cleveland, scored a second round TKO stoppage over Richard Greene from Indiana. Massie stays undefeated at 2-0, 1KO while Greene drops to 1-1.
Preliminary amateur bouts started the evening off and included Brian Park over Dan Jones via third stoppage from body shots, Yondale Evans over Derrick Moss, Kenny Brown over Wilkins Santiago, and Stipe Miocic upped his combined MMA/boxing record to 6-0 (all 6 victory’s via first round stoppage) with a first round TKO stoppage over Christopher Smiley.
