BY Robert Jackson: According to several websites and the rumor mll, Floyd Mayweather Jr. is preparing to return to the ring to face P4P King Manny Pacquiao. It has been said that after watching Pacquiao dismantle Oscar De La Hoya Saturday nite, Floyd Jr., contacted family members and voiced his decision to return with Pacquiao in his sights. Also mentioned during the discussions was the possible return of Floyd Sr. to train PBF for the fight while also retaining Roger Mayweather as co- trainer, don’t know how that will work out..
Also rumored is that calls were placed by PBF to his father, reports say this has been verified by Floyd Sr. Leonard Ellerbe, Mayweather Jr’s point man had no comment when asked to verify the reported happenings. The set up appeared to be all along for a match up between these two pugilists, even though Hatton’s name was tossed into the mix. Based on Pacquiao’s last two fights Pacquiao would’ve destroyed Malignaggi, while Hatton though dominant against Paulie was less than spectacular. Hatton witnessing front-row such a brutal beating probably is having 2nd thoughts about facing the Filipino and the only press releases from him have been to express his sorrow about the beating that the “Golden Boy” took.
So Mayweather tired of being Clark Kent wants to don the cape and tights again. In the year that PBF has been off boxing has passed him by and moved forwards without him. Pacquiao has become the face of boxing. Pacquiao has improved his skills so tremendously especially shown is his last 2 fights that I actually see Pacquiao beating Floyd. The year out of the ring did not help Floyd and it may be 3 or 4 months before he’s actually back in the ring.
One of the things that HURT Oscar the most was his part-time fighter status, Floyd has also been a part-time fighter for many years now, and the hardest part about getting back in the ring after a long layoff is getting hit again. So I’m saying here and now the next big event will be Mayweather/Pacquaio “The Pound For Pound Showdown”
