Here is what Guzman had to say:

JOAN GUZMAN

“I’m on pace to make weight and on Saturday night Diaz is going to be surprised at how good I really am. I’m here to make a statement to the world. Joan Guzman, the undefeated champion is back.

“I’m at 136 pounds right bow, one pound above the lightweight limit. This is a message to the boxing community that I am back.

“This fight is particularly special because it is in my hometown where my fans have always treated my well.

“I’m extremely happy with how training camp wrapped up. We went back to some of the old stuff that I used to do when I was younger. I felt like a kid again.

“I’m really excited to give my hometown fans a great show. I won here in 2006 against Antonio Davis and I’ll win again on Saturday.”

Share the Spirit- “Adopt a Family”

40 families still awaiting adoption with the Adopt a Family Project

As our days grow shorter and the weather becomes colder, many of us shift our thoughts to the joy of the holiday season and the closeness of our families. Unfortunately, many families in our community are struggling with poverty, disabilities, homelessness, abandonment, or the effects of a slow economy and the holidays can be a very worrisome time. Without the help of caring community members these families will struggle to meet their basic needs and may go without enough food and warm winter clothing, let alone toys or other holiday gifts.

The Volunteer Centers of Santa CruzCounty are in urgent need of your help this Holiday Season. Each year they make the holidays a little brighter for families in need through the Adopt a Family Program. Our warehouses have opened and there are still 40 families awaiting adoption. You can be the difference this winter by calling today. We encourage individuals, businesses, clubs, and churches to open their hearts by providing gift certificates or financial contributions. For more information call the adoption line at (831) 427-5075

The VolunteerCenter has been serving our community since 1967 and is recognized as the leader for volunteerism and community service in Santa CruzCounty. Aside from the Adopt a Family Project we maintain 21 other health and human service programs. Volunteer Opportunities are available throughout the year. Individuals, groups, and businesses who want to be the difference in their community can find more information at our website www.scvolunteercenter.org or by calling (831) 427-5070.
