LOS ANGELES – In a first for U.S. cable television networks, and in a huge boon for boxing fans, FSN announces that it will select the best fight from around the world each month and showcase it domestically. Telecast under the successful Best Damn Championship Fight Night banner, these monthly installments promise to deliver instant classics, top-notch title fights profiling great battles between the best fighters in the international community..

On Tuesday, December 23, FSN offers up the first of these international fights, a replay a bout boxing writers are calling a leading candidate for Fight of the Year as the UK’s Carl “The Cobra” Froch (23-0, 19ko) takes on Canada’s Jean Pascal (21-0, 14ko) for the vacant WBC Super Middleweight crown. Hosted by Chris Rose, BEST DAMN CHAMPIONSHIP FIGHT NIGHT PERIOD airs at 9:00 PM, 11:00 PM and 12:30 AM local.

“We’re pleased to be able to hand-pick the best championship fights from around the world and televise them to FSN’s loyal boxing fans,” said George Greenberg, Executive Vice President of Programming and Production. “These title fights deserve to be seen in the U.S. market.”

Announcer John Rawling and analyst Duke McKenzie call the 12-round bout that took place on December 6, 2008 in Nottingham, England.

Future fights will be selected on each month based on the fighters, the title they were fighting for, critical acclaim for the fight and with input from FSN’s boxing experts. Each fight will be cut down to one hour for the U.S. viewing audience.

WASHINGTON, D.C. (December 19, 2008) Middleweight prospect Bastie “THE BEAST” Samir, fresh off his another first round knockout last Saturday night makes a quick return to the ring this Saturday night, December 20th at the Burr Arena in Washington D.C.

“‘THE BEAST” has a little more destruction to do on the East Coast before we unleash him on the rest of the country”, said manager Cameron Dunkin.

Samir, the 2008 Ghanaian Olympic Team Captain has stunned boxing fans in his first two bouts in York, PA and Atlanta, GA, winning both by devastating first round knockouts.

Said promoter Chet Koerner, President of TKO BOXING Promotions, “The fans in York and Atlanta were amazed by what they saw. Bastie is only 22, but he’s got a piston like jab similar to his countryman Ike Quartey. Couple that with a complete offensive arsenal and the future is limitless for the kid.

This fight will be his third in six weeks and we want to have him fight at least once a month in 2009.”

Samir, 2-0 (2KO’s) will face Columbus, Ohio native William “BAM BAM” Armstead, 2-8 (1KO) in the scheduled four rounder.

“Merciless” Mary McGee (15-0, 9 KO’s) returns to the ring in the Co-Main Event following her successful defense of her NABC Light Weight World Championship. The Gary native looks to bring in the New Year with some power of her own.

Hobart’s undefeated welterweight Ed Ochoa (6-0, 6 KO’s) will also be on the card as he squares off against an opponent TBA. This explosive event will also feature light heavyweight “The Pitbull” Jimmy Perez Jr. (3-1, 1 KO) of Hammond and powerhouse welterweight Marcus Thompkins (2-0) of Michigan City will attempt to stay unbeaten.

Rounding out the card, very skilled middleweight Josh Crouch of Schererville (2-0, 2 KO’s) and young Chicago-product Orphius Waite (3-0, 3 KOs) look to continue their young and impressive careers.
