Both 13-0 as budding professionals, champion Appleby is the current Boxing Writers’ ‘Young Boxer of the Year’, while Belfast-born challenger Lindsay scored the ‘Knockout of 2008’ in his eliminator bout with Derry Mathews last September.
Already earmarked as one of the most exciting domestic bouts of 2009, Appleby vs. Lindsay is a 50/50 affair that promises to produce plenty of fireworks.

NEW YORK, USA (14.01.2009) — Hungarian Gábor Vető is a gifted young boxer and star in the making. He has been a member of the Hungarian national amateur team and will be making his pro-debut in February 2009.
Gábor Vető has waged a very successful amateur career having fought in many EABA tournaments in several countries clocking up more than 70 amateur fights. NEW YORK (13 Jan 2009) – Gleason’s gym re-enters the world of Professional Boxing Promotions on February 3rd at the Masonic Temple in Fort Greene, Brooklyn, New York. after a 20 year hiatus.
The celebrated boxing gym located under the Brooklyn bridge in the Dumbo section of Brooklyn, has not been an active player in professional boxing promotions since 1989,when such notable fighters as Riddick Bowe fought on its shows.
Gleason’s Gym is America’s oldest and largest active boxing gym, opening its doors in 1937 at its original location in the South Bronx.
131 world champions later and Gleason’s has decided to throw its hat back into the ring of Professional Boxing Promotions, Gleason’s goal is to create a strong grass roots foundation of boxing promotions in NY.
Gleason’s Gym, Inc. will promote it’s “Tuesday Night Fights” on the first Tuesday of each month at the Masonic Temple, with the first bout commencing at 7.30pm.
The series will begin on Tuesday February 3rd with a very strong card headlined by Rafael “El Torito” Concepcion vs Kermin Guardia, both former world titlists battling over 8 rounds.
Also the undefeated ‘Prince of Egypt” Ahmed Samir will take on the tough New Yorker Jerry Spiegel, and the undercard will feature a lot of local talent from the NY area, the show will also feature the professional debut of Keisher “Fire” Mcleod-Wells the former 2x World Amateur Champion.
