Four days ahead of his second title defence against Geoffrey Battelo, European Cruiserweight Champion Marco “Captain” Huck showcased some special skills when he visited Riesa´s famous pasta factory “Teigwaren Riesa”. Together with two cooks, the 24-year-old prepared a special pasta dish. “I really love cooking,” Huck said. “A healthy living and the right food are very important for an athlete. During the hard training camps, I have to eat many, many noodles. My last meal before a fight is always pasta..”
Huck certainly enjoyed the special training session. “My mother has taught me how to prepare nice dishes for myself so I am glad I could prove my talents today.”
His fight name, however, will remain “Captain Huck” rather than “Huck, the Cook”.
ASHLEY SEXTON is ready to shed the L plates and race to the British flyweight title
Flash Ash has had just three fights, but steps up to eight round class at Fenton Manor, Stoke on Friday.
Sexton (3-0) hopes a win will catapult him towards a crack at the winner of the vacant British and Commonwealth title clash between Chris Edwards and Wayne Bloy which tops the bill.
The Cheshunt kid has taken a hastily arranged fight against Fikret Remziev Kurdov at just four days notice.
Sexton, 21, gets his chance because Mark Thompson has been forced to pull out of his final eliminator for the Commonwealth flyweight title against Philip Kotey because of a broken hand.
Manager Mickey Helliet has already compared his man with Charlie Magri, who won the British eight stone title after just three fights in December 1977.
Sexton won his first two professional contests on points, but in December showed he carried a decent dig stopping Georgian Levan Garibashvili in three rounds.
As an amateur he won four national titles, and confidently predicts he’ll taste more glory punching for pay.
He said: “Because of my amateur experience and class of boxers I have mixed with, I feel really confident I can clean up the division in quick time.
“I would like to fight the winner of Chris Edwards-Wayne Bloy if the British Boxing Board of Control would allow it.”
The all-action co-promotion with Impact Boxing also features another of Sexton’s biggest rivals Paul Edwards. Among the local fighters on the bill are English lightweight champion Scott Lawton and heavyweight Alex Ibbs.

Langel’s Pizza To Host “Slug Fest 2009” Weigh-Ins
January 20 (Merrillville, In) – On Thursday, January 22nd at 6 p.m. Octavius James’ One In A Million, Inc. will have its official weigh ins for the “SLUG FEST 2009” card at Langel’s Pizza at 2833 Highway Avenue in Highland, In @ 6 PM.
This will give Chicagoland and Northwest Indiana fight fans an opportunity to meet all the fighters scheduled for this electric card, while the Miller Lite Girls will also be available for pictures and there will be plenty of chances to win some prizes throughout the night.

Jimmy “Fighting School Teacher” Holmes (17-1-2, 9 KOs) will square off against always game Tyrone Dowdy of Memphis, TN in the Main Event following a nearly year layoff due to surgery. NABC Lightweight World champion “Merciless” Mary McGee (15-0, 9 KOs) looks to stay unbeaten against rugged veteran Jessica Mohs (7-19, 2 KOs) in the Co-Main Event.

“Fight Knight” Return to the Castle
February 25th at Medieval Times in Lyndhurst, NJ
Lyndhurst, New Jersey (January 19, 2009) – An exciting night of boxing action returns to Medieval Times on Wednesday, February 25.
Mike Indri of Dignity Promotions has teamed up with Dave Feldman’s Felko Promotions and Urban Auto Spa to bring you another great night of boxing from the Castle in Lyndhurst, New Jersey. The event is aptly titled “Fight Knight”.
The main event features Hackensack, New Jersey’s all-action cruiserweight, Bobby “The Celtic Warrior” Gunn (21-3-1, 17 KOs) taking on Brad Gregory (11-2, 9 KOs) of Wichita, Kansas, in what looks to surely be an all-out slugfest. Gunn will be defending his WBC USNBC belt in this scheduled 10-round bout.
The exciting fight card will include some of the tri-state areas finest young talents.
Returning to the Medieval Times “Castle” will be highly touted former national champion Mike Perez (2-0, 2 KOs) and Peru’s best amateur champion, featherweight, Carlos Zambrano (4-0).
Rounding out the card will be undefeated power punching Light-Heavyweight Jason Escalera (4-0, 4 KOs), as well as fellow Union City resident Nelson Roldan, a tough middleweight, and Hoboken light-heavyweight Kyle White, both of who will be making their professional debuts.
