Among the victors of the seven scheduled bouts at First Council were Oklahoma superstars Native American Boxing Council Super Middleweight Champion George “Comanche Boy” Tahdooahnipah and Oklahoma Lightweight Champion Noah Zuhdi.
In the Main Event, Comanche Boy won by KO in the sixth round over veteran Jerry Perez of Rosenberg, Texas. Perez was game but Comanche Boy had too much fire power and was too skilled for Perez. Comanche Boy gave Perez a pounding in every round. Fight fans are eagerly looking forward to Comanche Boy’s next fight. Notch this one up to another exciting performance by Comanche Boy who now sports an impressive 18-0 record.
Oklahoma Lightweight Champion Noah Zuhdi easily won in a completely dominating performance over James McClure of Paris, AR. Zuhdi knocked McClure down three times, once in the first round, a second in the fifth round knocking McClure through the ropes with a right uppercut followed by a devastating left hook, and then again in the sixth round when the fight was won by Zuhdi by TKO. Zuhdi had won all the rounds by a wide margin up to the stoppage in round six. McClure came in well over the weight limit at a weight of 147.5 for a lightweight fight of 135 pounds. Zuhdi came in at 135 but wanted to fight and agreed to fight McClure despite McClure’s weight over the lightweight limit. Zuhdi’s easy triumph over McClure by TKO upped Zuhdi’s undefeated record to 7-0, with seven knockouts.
NABA U.S. Light Middleweight Carson Jones won by TKO over Mike McGuire. Jones clearly outclassed McGuire.
Former University of Oklahoma football player Gary Townsend defeated Zack McMillen in a first round knockout in their heavyweight fight. Light Heavyweight Terrance Jones won a majority decision over Sam Norwood.
Other scheduled bouts included Ron Aubrey, from Oklahoma City, formerly an Oklahoma City Blazer’s hockey player. Aubrey scored a second round knockout over John Fish of Guymon, Oklahoma. Alfredo Berto of Houston, Texas knocked out Yon Harrison, Moore, Oklahoma in a bantamweight battle.

Former IBF Champ, Steve ‘USS’ Cunningham, Praises Ola Afolabi’s Knockout Victory
Former IBF Cruiserweight King Steve ‘USS’ Cunningham, who lost his crown by close split decision to Poland’s Tomasz ‘Goral’ Adamek after their “fight of the year” nominated battle in December ’08, praises Ola ‘Kryptonite’ Afolabi for his stunning ninth round knockout of former WBO cruiserweight champion Enzo ‘Big Mac’ Maccarinelli on the 14th March to take the vacant interim-WBO title.
‘USS’ Cunningham, who had offered to be Maccarinelli’s opponent for this fight after Detroit’s Johnathon Banks pulled out of the bout in February to face current cruiserweight top dog Tomasz ‘Goral’ Adamek, was clearly impressed by Afolabi’s win as he said. “What a great win for Ola, I wish him the best against Ramirez. Being a World Champion is something that every boxer aspires to do, but a very select few actually get that title.
I was blessed to hold the IBF Cruiserweight title for two years and I’m going to get it back and then go after the other belts and prove that I am the best Cruiserweight in the world. I have my work cut out for me, but I am ready.

The IBF World Cruiserweight Title eliminator bout between former IBF cruiserweight champion, Steve ‘USS’ Cunningham, and former WBC champion, Wayne ‘Big Truck’ Braithwaite, will be held in St Louis, Missouri later this year. The winner earns the right to face current IBF Champion Tomasz ‘Goral’ Adamek later in 2009.
Promoter Don King is expected to announce the venue and the date for Cunningham Vs. Braithwaite in the near future.
Veto stops Zeliev in second round in Germany
15th March 2009 – In a lightweight bout Optimum Sports Agency’s Hungarian prospect Gabor Veto stopped Ibragim Zeliev in Karlsruhe in the second round with an impressive combination to the body and head.
The 20-year-old Veto (2-0), former member of Hungarian amateur national team, controlled round one with long, straight punches. His boxing style and hand speed proved too much for the frustrated Zeliev (0-2).
Veto of Varpalota, immediately showed his superiority over an outclassed Zeliev. He landed stiff left jabs to the Russian’s head and sharp follow up combinations. Midway through the 2nd round, Veto caught the tired Zeliev with a right and hard left to the head and referee Mirko Skoko immediately stopped the fight.
“It’s been a very good learning experience to fight against an opponent with a classic russian style. I look forward to work hard and give my best effort to reach my goals“, said Veto.
With the victory Veto now looks towards a match with Perparim Hajdini (1-1) on the undercard of the WBC World Title fight between Vitali Klitschko and Juan Carlos Gomez in Hans-Martin Schleyer Halle in Stuttgart next Saturday.
