On the Ropes is back in action with our remarkable hostess, the charming Miss Jenna J, along with her co-host Nick Powers and her special weekly guest, yours truly (aka-Rumsfeld). This week’s episode will be kicked off with a discussion about the controversial ending in the Timothy Bradley-Nate Campbell WBO junior welterweight championship bout. After being cut by what was clearly a headbutt, the fight—which was stopped before the end of the fourth round—was inexplicably ruled a TKO victory for Bradley. According to the rules, the bout should have ended in a no contest. Campbell has since filed an appeal with the California State Athletic Commission to change the outcome. We will have an in-depth discussion surrounding the controversy, and there is even a possibility that Campbell himself might make a fourth appearance on OTR in order to state his case to the fans. We will also briefly touch on the under card which saw Devon Alexander defeat Junior Witter in a bid for the vacant WBC junior welterweight title.

We will also discuss the latest news from the rumor mill. Vitali Klitschko is apparently very close to reaching an agreement to defend his title later this year against undefeated American heavyweight, Chris Arreola. Since David Haye bailed on negotiations with Klitschko in favor of a bout with WBA title holder, Nikolai Valuev, this is probably the next best option available for the elder Klitschko and it appears the fight will probably happen. In other news, rumors have surfaced about a proposed Polish mega bout between reigning cruiserweight king, Tomasz Adamek, and the enigmatic long-time heavyweight contender, Andrew Golota. Although sources from Main Events have publically stated these rumors are 100% false, they continue to circulate. The topic of Adamek moving up to heavyweight is something which has long been discussed, and this is a fight that Ziggy Rozalski—representative of both Polish fighters—has recently expressed great interest in putting together. Will it actually happen?

Additionally, we have three special guests lined up for this week.

First up, we have former heavyweight contender Lou Savarese. Savarese officially retired from the sport after his bout with Evander Holyfield back in 2007, but he has since found a new way to support his love of boxing. On August 6, Savarese Promotions will be holding its inaugural boxing event, Thursday Night Throw Down which takes at the Hilton American Houston. A portion of the proceeds of the night’s events will benefit Casa El Buen Samaritano, a local charity that has established a clinic in Southwest Houston to meet the basic medical needs of the underserved and underprivileged in the community. We will discuss various moments from Lou’s careers, his current endeavors outside the ring, and his thoughts and opinions on the current boxing landscape.

Also on the show, we will have undefeated middleweight prospect Peter “Kid Chocolate” Quillin and “The Real Million Dollar Baby”, Maureen Shea. Despite his lack of amateur pedigree, “Kid Chocolate has exhibited excellent one-punch knockout power in either hand which has enabled him to build quite a large following. We will discuss his future in the professional ranks and talk about his upcoming bout on August 19. Meanwhile, Maureen Shea, best known for her work with Hillary Swank in the world renowned film Million Dollar Baby suffered a setback this weekend, losing her fight against Lindsay Garbett via seventh round TKO. Tune in as Maureen discusses her match-up and talks about the future.

Listeners are encouraged to call in and share their thoughts on the latest boxing news and to provide questions and comments for our special guests, Savarese, Quillin, and Shea. Also, if you have any questions for our guests and are unable to call in or access our message boards, please leave a comment here and we will try our best to get your questions out on the show.

Be sure to tune in!
