News: Philip Anselmo Gets Down at Kronk Fest 2009; Baltic Boxing Union News

A champion of the stage joins with Detroit’s own champions of the ring, as Rock Music Heavyweight Philip Anselmo pays a special visit to the first annual Kronk Fest 2009 on Sunday, September 20, at Clutch Cargos in Pontiac, Michigan. New Orleans native Anselmo is a world-renowned vocalist and musician, who has sold more than 25 million records with Pantera, Superjoint Ritual and now, his new longtime band of brothers in Down. But he is also a devoted boxing fan, historian and journalist. He is a regular contributor to Boxing Digest magazine. And he is a FOK, a Friend of Kronk, newly appointed to the board of the Kronk Gym Foundation..

Anselmo will be making a special guest appearance at Kronk Fest 2009, which will benefit the Kronk Gym Foundation in its efforts to provide new equipment for the Kronk Boxing Gym, plus tournament funding for the Kronk Amateur Boxing Team. Playing live at the Kronk Fest will be two Michigan heavy-metal sluggers: Deadhouse rocking out of Detroit and Housecore Record’s presents Cavalcade weighing in from Lansing.

As an extra special bonus, there will be an exclusive sneak preview of the long-awaited rockucumentary, “Down – Diary of a Mad Band,” see it before its release in 2010. Watch DOWN as they tear up Europe – literally and figuratively – on their first European tour.

The Kronk Gym is an internationally known boxing center, which under the direction of legendary trainer Emanuel Steward, has produced a cavalcade of ring champions, including Thomas Hearns, Hilmer Kenty Lennox Lewis and currently training Heavyweight Champion of the World Wladimir Klitschko.

Steward has recently established the Kronk Gym Foundation, which seeks to keep kids off the street and in the ring, where they can learn how to be good boxers and better citizens.

Baltic Boxing Union news – Kauramäki to defend his BBU Middleweight title

The most experienced active Finnish professional boxer Kai “Ironman” Kauramäki is defending his BBU Middleweight title on Saturday evening 12th September at Pori Finland. The show which is called as “Mestareiden Ilta – The Evening of Champions” is containing 5 bouts which in all at least the other boxer is the former Finnish national amateur champion. The main event will be Kauramäki´s first defense for his BBU title which he won back in April 2009 in Poland in fight against Mariusz Cendrowski (POL) (currently 17 (7 KO) – 2 – 1). The upcoming title defense is scheduled for 8 rounds.

The reigning champion Kai Kauramäki made his pro debut already over a decade ago in Finland by beating his opponent by points over 6 rounds. During his pro career Kauramäki has achieved high appreciation as fearless boxer who is always ready to fight with anybody anywhere. So far Kauramäki has travelled with his manager Jaakko Helminen to fight in addition to home fights in Finland in ten different countries all over the Europe while squaring off with many TOP-level fighters like Amin Asikainen (former European champion), Khoren Gevor (former European champion and WBA World title challenger) and Gary Lockett (former WBC and WBO World title challenger).

Kauramäki´s current record is 16 (5 KO) – 15 – 0.

The another man in the ring will be the challenger Magomed Abdurakhmanov (RUS) who is currently ranked as #9 challenger at BBU Baltic Rankings in Super Welterweight division. Abdurakhmanov who is living at Prague Czech Republic made his pro debut nearly 4 years ago by earning TKO 3 victory over experienced Hungarian Attila Kiss. After losing his second pro fight Abdurakhmanov won 13 of his 14 next bouts and earned a title shot against Alexander Abraham for EBU-EE –title in a show promoted by Sauerland Event back in May 2009.

Just after one month after the loss against Abraham the Russian boxer was back in business with TKO 5 –victory over then-undefeated Simon Imre. That way Abdurakhmanov is stepping into the ring with Kauramäki to fight for Baltic Boxing Union Middleweight title with the record of 15 (8 KO) – 3 – 0.
