SANTA YNEZ, CALIF. (September 17, 2009) — Undefeated welterweight contender ORLANDO LORA, who recently signed an exclusive promotional agreement with Gary Shaw Productions, will make his GSP debut Tomorrow! Friday, September 18, at the Chumash Casino Resort in Santa Ynez, Calif. Lora will take on veteran Hicklet Lau, in an eight-round welterweight rumble, on the non-televised undercard headlined by the 10-round heavyweight bout between undefeated contender Travis Kauffman (18-0, 15 KOs), and hard-punching Tony Grano (15-1-1, 12 KOs), and the eight-round bantamweight bout between Chris Avalos (11-0, 9 KOs), against Giovanni Caro (13-7-4, 11 KOs).. Both main event fights will be televised live nationally on SHOWTIME’S “ShoBox: The New Generation,” beginning at 11 p.m. ET/PT (delayed on the West Coast.)
Lora (23-0-1, 18 KOs), of Culiacan, Mexico, and a member of Mexico’s 2000 Olympic squad, has knocked out 12 of his last 14 opponents. He closed out 2008 by capturing the vacant World Boxing Council (WBC) Continental Americas welterweight title with a fourth-round stoppage of Victor Baquedano (16-9-1, 10 KOs), and started 2009 with a seventh-round TKO of Favio Medina (20-1-2, 8 KOs), ending his six-year, 20-bout unbeaten streak.
“He’s a pressure fighter with a style very similar to Julio Cesar Chavez,” said trainer and co-manager Abel Sanchez, who has been putting Laro through his grueling paces at The Summit in Big Bear Lake, Calif. “Orlando has been exposed to a variety of different styles in the ring and in training to get him to the next level and prepare him for his path toward a world title challenge. He has more than held his own sparring with the likes of Antonio Margarito and Alfredo Angulo. He has transformed himself from an outside boxer with a good right to a menacing inside fighter with more power, which he has demonstrated in his last three fights which were all KO victories.”
“He reminds me of “Perro” Angulo with his power and his tenacity,” said Shaw, who promotes both. “He is a GSP style fighter which means he has a fan-friendly style — aggressive and powerful. You won’t see him on “Dancing with the Stars” but I guarantee you his opponents will be seeing stars. At the pace Abel has him on, I think Orlando could be challenging for the welterweight title within the next 12 months.”
RAN NAKASH TO HEADLINE ON CANCER AWARNESS NIGHT ON OCTOBER 2ND AT THE LEGNEDARY BLUE HORIZON
PHILADELPHIA (SEPTEMBER 17, 2009)誘ndefeated Cruiserweight Ran Nakash will make another appearance at The Legendary Blue Horizon as he will headline a big night of boxing on cancer Awareness night Friday night October 2nd.
The card is promoted by Vernoca L. Michael and Blue Horizon Boxing Promotions and there will dedications to Cancer survivors and Cancer groups from the area.
Nakash of Haifa, Israel has a record of 20-0 with fifteen knockouts and is on the cusp of receiving a world ranking.
Nakash has become a fan favorite at The Legendary Blue Horizon as this will be his tenth appearance at The Blue (9-0, 7 KO痴 including the last six being knockouts). Nakash is coming off a unanimous decision over Yavor Marinchev on August 8th in Israel.
In his last Blue Horizon start, Nakash scored a seventh round stoppage over Dave Brunelli on April 3rd.
Nakash will take part in his first ten round bout against an opponent to be named.
In a six round Cruiserweight bout undefeated Jeremiah Graziano will make his Blue Horizon debut against an opponent to be named.
Graziano of Kansas City, Missouri has a record of 6-0 with all wins coming by knockout and will take on an opponent to be named.
One of the most popular fighters in Philadelphia, Victor Vasquez will take on Chris Green of Asbury Park, New Jersey in a six round Lightweight bout.
Vasquez, who usually has the loudest cheering section when he fight痴 has a record of 9-3 with five knockouts and is coming off a six round unanimous decision over Linwood Hurd on May 1st at The Legendary Blue Horizon.
Green was an amateur star and has a record of 3-1 and is coming off a six round unanimous decision over Laquan Lewis on Auguest 27th in North Bergen, New Jersey
After the disappointment of his opponent getting into a car accident AFTER the weigh-in on September 11th, Darrell Jones will get back into the ring in a four round Welterweight bout against popular Muhammad Tuba.
Jones of Philadelphia has a record of 1-0 with one knockouts and has been out of the ring for thirteen months after scoring a third round knockout over James Wynn at The Legendary Blue Horizon.
Tuba of Nazareth made a very successful Legendary Blue Horizon debut on May 15th with a four round unanimous decision over Vincent Batteast and brings in a record of 1-3.
Fresh off his pro debut victory on September 11th, Joe Alonso of Bellmawr, New Jersey will take on debuting Vaughn Anderson of Philadelphia in a four round Jr. Middleweight bout.
Ryan Carson, who scored a very impressive knockout in his pro debut on August 8th in Atlantic City will make his Legendary Blue Horizon debut as the Norristown, PA native will take on Jhovany Collado of Queens, NY in a four round Super Featherweight bout.
Collado, 2-6-2 with one knockout is the brother of undefeated Featherweight Joselito Collado.

Unbeaten featherweight Matt “Sharp Shooter” Remillard takes aim at NABF belt
MANCHESTER, Conn. (September 17, 2009) – WBC Youth and USNBC champion Matt “Sharp Shooter” Remillard fights fellow unbeaten prospect Rafael “The Dominican Man” Lora for the vacant NABF featherweight title Saturday night in South Winsor, Connecticut.
Remillard (18-0, 10 KOs), fighting out of neighboring Manchester, faces Lora (11-0, 5 KOs), WBC Caribbean Boxing Federation title-holder, in the 10-round main event.
“I’m excited to be fighting in my first main event at home,” Remillard said. “It gives some of my family, friends and fans a chance to see me fight live, something they may not have had a chance to do so far. I’ll have a lot of supporters there. The fight is being held only five minutes from my home. It’s a great chance to build my fan base. I feel that the show will be a sellout. It’s going to be a classy show at a small venue that will bring some new fans.
“I’m more comfortable fighting at home. I get to sleep in my own bed and train in my hometown. There’s pressure fighting at home, of course, but pressure brings out my best. I believe this fight is going to bring me to the next level. I believe, in boxing, if you can’t perform well under pressure, you’re in the wrong sport. I’m 18-0 and want to move up. I have to win and look good. I don’t have a choice. I can’t just get by and that’s the way I’ve looked at it through this entire training camp.”
Remillard has faced much tougher opponents than Lora, who has fought only as a pro once outside of his native Dominican Republic. “I know that he hasn’t fought opponents up to the stature of mine,” Matt explained, “but he’s still undefeated. He’s definitely a banger who, I’ve heard, is awkward with fast hands. Hey, he brings a lot to the table. We’re two undefeated featherweights fighting for the NABF title. An impressive win will help move me up in the rankings and open up bigger, televised fights for me.”
After overcoming a hand injury that sidelined him for nearly 1 ½ years, the 23-year-old Remillard is looking ahead to a break through year in 2010. “I’m happy with the ay my career is going and I’m hoping 2010 will be a big year for me,” he added. “Fans see an aggressive puncher when they watch me fight. I love to hit the body. But I want fans to see me boxing more. I can do it all. I have good boxing ability but have only showed it once against (former world champion) Mauricio Pastrana (Nov. 13, 208 – WDEC6). I’m working had to become a more complete fighter, which will allow me to have a longer career.
“Even back in the amateurs, I knew I could take and give a good punch. I’ve always like body punching. You’re legs may go from good head shits, but good body punching knocks the wind out. That’s my definition of hurt. Working the body slows down a fighter to where they’ll stand in front of me and I can pick ‘em apart with shots. Sometimes you’re stunned from a body shot but don’t really feel the effects for a few seconds. It’s delayed. Fans will see a lot of that from me this Saturday night.”
