MEXICO (Oct. 13, 2009) – Tecate, cerveza con carácter, announces the launch of a regional marketing campaign designed to bring boxing fans closer to the Nov. 14 encounter between Filipino star Manny Pacquiao (49-3, 37 KO’s) and three-time world champion Miguel Cotto (34-1, 27 KO’s) of Puerto Rico. The welterweight world title bout will be broadcast on HBO Pay-Per-View® from the MGM Grand Garden in Las Vegas beginning at 6:00 p.m. PT/9:00 p.m. ET..

Tecate is supporting the fight with an ad campaign that includes TV, radio and out-of-home. At retail, stores across the Western region will feature mass displays and POS materials, as well as commemorative 24 oz cans featuring Manny Pacquiao and Miguel Cotto.
To ensure boxing fans don’t let the economy keep them from enjoying the fight at home, Tecate will offer a $25 mail-in discount for the HBO PPV event with the purchase of an 18-pack of Tecate or Tecate Light. This offer will be valid only in select states across the country, including Arizona, California, Colorado, New Mexico, Nevada, Oregon, Utah and Washington.
Leading up to the fight, Tecate will invite fans to a meet-and-greet with their favorite fighters, where they will sign autographs and take photos at the “Tecate Mobile Boxing Ring” in Las Vegas.

BIG JOHN POORE BOXES JASON BARNETT IN NOV. 20 BLUE HORIZON SEMIFINAL
PHILADELPHIA, PA—Heavyweight Big John Poore, of Upper Darby, PA, makes his second start of 2009 when he takes on Jason Barnett, of St. Petersburg, FL, in a six-round contest Friday evening, Nov. 20, at the Legendary Blue Horizon, 1314 North Broad Street.
Topping the seven-bout card is a scheduled 12-round contest for the vacant United States Boxing Association (USBA) super bantamweight title between Teon Kennedy, of North Philadelphia, and Francisco Rodriguez, of Chicago, IL. First fight at 7.30 pm.
Poore, 38, earned a six-round decision over Jermell Barnes, of Rochester, NY, on June 6 at Bally’s Atlantic City.
A pro since 2000, Poore has a 21-3 record with 18 knockouts. He has beaten Dan Whetzel, Will Perryman and Joe Lenhart but was stopped in one round by Brian Minto in his biggest fight July 2, 2008, in Butler, PA.
Poore would like to parlay his record into a series of lucrative fights overseas, but knows he must first defeat Barnett.
Barnett, 35, is 10-10, 4 K0s. He has fought better opposition, but has lost to Vinny Maddalone, Audley Harrison and Jaso
n Gavern.
Against common foes, Poore and Barnett each defeated Franklin Edmundson and Whetzel.

MIKE STEWART CONTINUES COMEBACK AGAINST LOUIE LEIJA ON NOV. 7´AT BALLY’S ATLANTIC CITY
ATLANTIC CITY, NJ—Former No. 1 junior welterweight contender Mike “No Joke” Stewart, of New Castle, DE, continues his comback when he takes on Louie Leija, of San Antonio, TX, in a scheduled six-round fight Saturday evening, Nov. 7, at Bally’s Atlantic City.
Topping the seven-bout card is a scheduled 10-round contest between Mike Jones, of Philadelphia, PA, and Richard Gutierrez, of Mimi, FL, for Jones’ North American Boxing Association (NABA) welterweight title. First fight at 7.30 p.m.
Stewart, 31, is now boxing as a welterweight. He ended an 18-month layoff April 24 when he earned a six-round decision over Luis Albert Santiago, of Philadelphia, at Dover (DE) Downs. Stewart would like to return to Dover Downs next year as the headliner.
A pro since 1996, Stewart has a 43-7-3 record with 31 knockouts. He was undefeated in his first 30 bouts. He lost two big fights against world champions in 2004 when he was out-pointed over 12 rounds by Sharma Mitchell and stopped in five by Ricky Hatton. Both fights were in Manchester, England.
Stewart was 6-4-1 afterward and quit after losing a 10-round decision to Robert Frankel, of Denver, on Oct. 5, 2007, at the New Alhambra in South Philadelphia. Prior to that, he did manage to knock out Ebo Elder in opening series of The Contender reality TV show, then lost to a heavier man in Grady Brewer in the second series. A possible fight with Arturo Gatti went down the drain earlier in 2007 when Stewart lost on points to Enrique Colin, also at the New Alhambra.
Leija, 36, is 21-12-1, 15 K0s, and he is the much bigger man coming into this fight.
