Bernard Hopkins vs Enrique Ornelas and Roy Jones Jr. vs Danny Green live on VERSUS

NEW YORK, N.Y. (November 6, 2009)-VERSUS, the fastest growing sports cable network in the country, will air an action-packed night of boxing on December 2 headlined by the “Broad Street Brawl” featuring a light heavyweight battle between Bernard Hopkins and Enrique Ornelas, live from the Liacouras Center at Temple University in Philadelphia. VERSUS will also air the highly anticipated title bout between eight-time world champion Roy Jones Jr. and IBO cruiserweight champion Danny Green. VERSUS’ coverage on December 2 begins at 8 p.m. ET..

Hopkins (49-5-1, 32 KOs), a former two-division champion, will continue his remarkable career in his hometown when he faces the 29-year-old Ornelas (29-5, 19 KOs) in a 12-round light heavyweight division bout. A future Hall of Famer, Hopkins held the middleweight title for more than 10 years with a record 20 successful title defenses. In 2006 Hopkins moved up in weight and recorded a huge win over Antonio Tarver to capture the light heavyweight title. He went on to beat Winky Wright and continued his streak of success by defeating the younger and then undefeated Kelly Pavlik in his most recent bout in October 2008.

Roy Jones Jr., eight-time world champion (54-5), and three-time world champion Danny Green (27-3), will get between the ropes and into the ring to fight for the cruiserweight world title in the Acer Arena in Sydney, Australia. In this landmark fight, Green puts his world title on the line as he takes on Jones Jr. who will be fighting in his first professional bout outside of the United States.

“Two legendary fighters appearing on VERSUS in the same night demonstrates the network’s commitment to airing marquee sporting events featuring athletes competing at the highest level,” said Marc Fein, Executive Vice President of Programming, Production and Business Operations for VERSUS. “With the possibility of Jones Jr. and Hopkins facing each other in the ring in the near future, December 2 is a night boxing fans can’t miss.”
