(November 17, 2009) When DiBella Entertainment (“DBE”) and Resnick Productions (“RP”) team up to present War at the Armory this Thursday, November 19, at the Main Street Armory in Rochester, NY, it will be the continuation of a relationship that extends far beyond just one event. Thursday’s show will be the first in a four card series to take place at the Main Street Armory, and will feature a triumvirate of talent recently signed to co-promotional deals by DBE and RP. Headlining Thursday will be DBE’s top-flight middleweight prospect Edwin “La Bomba” Rodriguez (12-0, 8 KOs) taking on tough veteran Brian Norman (17-9, 5 KOs). Rodriguez, hailing from Worcester, Mass, will be making his second trip up to Rochester this year. In August, he wowed the Frontier Field crowd with a second round knockout over Angel David Rodriguez..
“It’s impossible to have not been impressed with Edwin Rodriguez thus far in his career. Just ask the fight fans in Rochester,” said Lou DiBella, President of DiBella Entertainment. “When he fought here in August, the reaction was great; we had to bring him back to headline a show.”
The undercard will feature three fighters, Nick Brinson, Willie Monroe, Jr., and Aleem “Hammer” Whitfield, all of whom now fight under the co-promotional banner of DiBella Entertainment and Resnick Productions.
Brinson (4-0, 2 KOs) will be in against Richmond Dalphone (2-5-2, 1 KO). Dalphone, who is riding a two fight winning streak and has been matched very tough in his career, figures to provide Brinson with a solid test. Monroe (6-0, 2 KOs), who recently traveled to Okalhoma to win on the non-televised portion of a nationally televised show, will do battle with fellow unbeaten Troy Artis (2-0-1, 1 KO). Whitfield (1-0, 1 KO), who was very impressive in his pro debut at Frontier Field in August, will take on Marcos Adorno, making this pro debut.
“These are all very exciting fighters to watch,” said Ron Resnick, President of Resnick Productions. “Fans are in for a treat getting to watch thee young prospects mature into world champions.”
The show will be rounded out by Tony Brinson (1-0, 1 KO) up against five fight veteran Rondu Campbell (2-2-1), Jayme Resnick (2-1, 1 KO) vs. Zachary Smith (3-0), and Andy Meijas (3-0, 1 KO) taking on Todd Erikkson (0-0-1).
Because the of the tremendous response to War at the Armory and previous events in Rochester, this show will also mark the first of a four show deal made with the Main Street Armony. DBE and RP will be back in February, April, and June, showcasing more talent the likes of Rodriguez, Brinson, Monroe, and Whitfield.
“It’s a pleasure to bring great fights to the fans of Rochester,” said DiBella. “Working with Ron Resnick means only the best in terms of quality for those coming out to the Armory.”
Tickets for War at the Armory are priced at $30, $50, and $75 and can be purchased by visiting www.RochesterBoxing.com or the ROC Boxing & Fitness Center at 524 Atlantic Ave. or call (585) 254-3280 or Ticketmaster. RODRIGUEZ TAKES ON JACKIEWICZ IN IBF TITLE ELIMINATOR
On November 27th, Star Boxing’s IBF #3 rated welterweight, Delvin Rodriguez (24-3-2, 14KO) will travel into foreign territory when he takes on Poland’s IBF #4 rated Rafal “Braveheart” Jackiewicz (34-8-1, 18KO) for the #1 spot in the IBF World Ratings in an official IBF Welterweight Title eliminator. The bout, scheduled for twelve rounds, will take place in Belk, Poland.
Rodriguez is coming off a highly entertaining, controversial split decision loss to Isaac Hlatshwayo this past August for the vacant IBF Welterweight Championship of the World.
While Rodriguez is looking to rebound off the loss, Jackiewicz will be looking to keep his nineteen-bout, four-year win streak alive.
“I am pleased that Delvin is getting another opportunity to become the mandatory challenger. I thought that Delvin won both fights against Hlatshwayo (the two first battled to a majority draw in November of last year),” stated Joe DeGuardia, CEO and founder of Star Boxing. “It is fitting that the IBF kept Delvin as the top rated welterweight in the division (both the #1 and #2 spot are vacant), as when you take the judge’s scorecards over 24 rounds, only one scorecard separates Delvin from being the World Champion. Hopefully Delvin will soon have an opportunity to fight once again for the coveted IBF World Championship. First and foremost Delvin must take care of business in Poland. Jackiewicz is a very skilled fighter, so Delvin knows he can’t look past him. He hasn’t lost in over four years and he will have a whole country behind him fight night. I can tell you though that Delvin has a very bad taste left in his mouth and he is hungrier than ever to get another shot at the championship and promises he won’t leave it to the judge’s scorecards this time around.”
Rodriguez vs. Jackiewicz will be promoted by Joe DeGuardia’s Star Boxing in association with Bullit Knockout Promotions.
Bad Blood – Holm vs. Hernandez

Hernandez will return to Delgado’s Gym, where she trained when filming her March 2009 episode of MTV’s “Made”. “I’m moving my camp to Denver so the Mile High City will prepare me for hunting season.” Hernadnez said. “Moving my camp to Denver will be the best move yet. Denver is a great fight town and has showed me nothing but love. My return to the Mile High City is nothing less then a championship move. Delgado’s Gym has given me a home. The support Delgado’s gives is so up lifting that I can’t help but call it my second home away from Gleason’s.”
