MONTREAL, CANADA (March 8, 2010) Montreal fight fans were treated to another outstanding performance from sensational junior lightweight prospect Logan McGuinness as he battled Mexican veteran Pedro Navarrete in an eight round war on Saturday afternoon. Fighting at the Montreal Casino for the fifth time in his young professional career, the 22 year old McGuinness improved his unbeaten record to 10-0-0 (4KO’s) as the Orangeville native displayed toughness belying his youth. Starting off evenly in the first couple of rounds, McGuinness had a brief tough patch in the early going but was able to turn the tide as the battle raged on..
After a hard fought five rounds in which both combatants scored at will, McGuinness proved he had the tougher mettle, taking over the rumble in the sixth round with devastating power shots, while walking through the earlier damaging combinations from the Mexican warrior.
Firing away with brutal intensity in the final two rounds, McGuinness proved that he was equal to the large step up in competition.
Final scores at the end of rumble were 77-75, 77-75 and 79-74. With the loss, Navarrete moved to 24-7-3 (13KO’s).
Chase Shields Upsets Jimmy Lange
Houston’s Chase “The White Tiger” Shields captured the World Boxing Council’s (WBC) U.S. National Boxing Championship (USNBC) 154-lb. title in a controversial, but unanimous 12-round decision (115-111, 115-111, 115-111) over Jimmy Lange of Great Falls, VA Saturday night at the Patriot Center in hard-fought, action-packed bout before 5,123 fans. After both fighters had gone toe-to-toe up to this point, Shields (30-3-1, 14 KOs) seemed to be in trouble in the 9th round when the lights above the ring suddenly went out, halting the action for nearly six minutes.
After the lights were restored, Lange (31-4-2, 21 KOs), seemingly lost his momentum and was not able to pick up where he left off. Meanwhile, Shields regained his composure during the break in action and came back to score knockdowns in the 10th and 11th rounds. Lange attempted a final push in the 12th round but the hometown favorite was unable to close down the tough Texan.
“Jimmy came out flat tonight and, frankly, stunk up the place,” said manager/father Johnny Lange. “It’s early in the process, but we would like a rematch, even if it means traveling to Houston and fighting in front of Shields’ fans.”
In the co-main event, Bayan “The Mongolian Mongoose” Jargal remained undefeated (15-0-2, 9 KO) by knocking out ring veteran Louie Leija (21-15-1) in the first round. Up-and-comer Juan “The Savoir” Rodriguez was impressive in registering his fourth knockout in as many fights by taking out Damien Butler, as was Sergey Kovalev (6-0, 6 KOs) in dispatching Francois Ambang (2-6-1) with a 2nd Round knockout.

Coy Evans Remains Undefeated
PHILADELPHIA (March 3, 2010)—This past Saturday night at The Roadway Inn in Allentown, PA., one of the most exciting up and coming prospects, Coy “Pretty Boy” Evans, remained undefeated with a six round unanimous decision over tough veteran Robert DaLuz. In the fight, Evans showed lightning quick hands and divided his shots up nicely between the head and body of DaLuz.. Evans dominated the action by winning every round on all three judges score cards to the tune of 60-54 across the board.
Evans is now 7-0-1 and will look towards his next bout on April 9th at The Arena in Philadelphia where he will headline a big night of boxing as he will compete in his first eight round bout.
“We are very happy with Coy’s performance. He has eight pro fights and he fought a guy who was in his 40th pro fight and I feel he handled himself great.” says Eddie Woods, co-manager of Evans
