Sport and events channel Primetime will now be available on Virgin TV via On Demand > Live Events. Since Primetime launched on the Sky platform in October 2009 with the Super Six Super middleweight boxing tournament there has been great demand for Primetime to expand onto Virgin by both boxing fans and promoters alike. The deal sees Primetime’s reach expand by over a third..
The action begins on Virgin this Saturday (20th March at 8pm) with Heavyweight title bout between ‘Dr Steelhammer’ Wladimir Klitschko and ‘Fast Eddie’ Chambers. Wladimir Klitschko will defend his WBO and IBF Heavyweight belts against American Eddie Chambers at Dusseldorf’s Esprit Arena in Germany. With two belts on the line both men are going to be going for the big win.
IBF, WBO and IBO champion Wladimir Klitschko is focused and determined to keep his belts in the Klitschko family. He said this week:
“After nine months off, I am eager to get back in the ring. I am very excited to fight in another soccer stadium, this one will hold more than 50,000 people. The atmosphere in the stadium will be fantastic.
I am 33 years old and at the top of my athletic ability, I have never been so strong, fast, and experienced. Eddie is a very talented fighter and has a very difficult style, but I am well prepared to defend my titles. All four of my belts will stay in the Klitschko family.”
Then on 24th April Primetime will broadcast on both Sky and Virgin On Demand our very own WBC undefeated World champion Carl ‘The Cobra’ Froch as he takes on Mikkel Kessler. Speaking with Primetime Froch said:
“I’m really pleased that the fight will now be shown on Primetime on Virgin. Not only does it increase the number of viewers who can now watch the fight but also Nottingham is mainly a Virgin broadband area so my home crowd can still catch all the action live from Herning. “It makes for a humdinger. Kessler is going to be knocked out for the first time in his career, unless he’s a lot tougher than I already think he is.”

BOXING PROMOTERS ASSOCIATION ANNOUNCES DISTRIBUTION AGREEMENT WITH ROUND1 MAGAZINE
In yet another meanigful development by the Boxing Promoters Association, the organization has announced that they have entered into a longterm distribution agreement with Round1 Magazine. Beginning this summer, Round1 will be distributed directly and for free, to boxing fans at events promoted by members of the Boxing Promoters Association. Steve Farhood, boxing analyst for Showtime and winner of the 2008 Boxing Writers Association of America’s James J. Walker Award for Long and Meritorious Services, will serve as the Editor-at-Large, supplying featured content to the publication, while world renowned boxing photographer, Howard Schatz’s has been named the magazine’s cover photographer.
“We are very excited about our agreement we have entered into with Round1 magazine, especially that it gives us the opportunity to give something back to each and every fan that attends one of our events,” stated Joe DeGuardia, President of the BPA. “They have really put together an all-star team with Farhood and Schatz, two of the best in the business, and we know the product’s quality will speak for itself.”
“I’m extremely excited about working with the BPA to bring Round1 to the masses,” says Lamar Clark, founder of Clark Creative Media, Inc. who first published Round1 in 2007. “Fight fans deserve a treat for their passionate following and this arrangement gives them just that. BPA members add value to their events and our audience of mostly sports-enthused men, leave the arena with a piece of memorabilia.”
