IBF #1 ranked Takalani “The Panther” Ndlovu (30-5, 18 KO’s) spoke to the media after a public workout at the famed Cabbagetown Boxing Club in preparation for his battle against “The Canadian Kid” Steve Molitor (31-1, 12 KO’s, IBF #2 Junior Featherweight) for the vacant IBF Junior Featherweight world title, in the main event of Rumble at Rama XI, Saturday, March 27th at Casino Rama, in Rama, Ontario. On his tactics for this fight, as compared to his first fight with Molitor (TKO 9 loss in 2007) “Nothing has changed. I’m the same fighter. He’s the same fighter. I’m always happy with my performance all the time..”
“I’m prepared this time, and I was prepared the last time we fought. The question is, how prepared is Molitor.”
On fighting on the road in front of a hostile crowd, and if he feels he has to score a knockout to win. “This fight could be anywhere, it doesn’t matter. I’m not fighting the judges, I’m fighting Steve Molitor, and he’s just a regular fighter like me. The judges have nothing to do with me. The only person I’m focusing on is Molitor.”
“I might not have any fans over to watch me, but I know they are back home, and they are with me. We are always celebrating back home. 2010 is South Africa’s year. We have the World Cup, and we haven’t stopped celebrating, and on March 27th I will give them another reason to be happy.”
On what he would like to say to Molitor “Thumbs-up mother(expletive)” (said while extending two middle fingers into the air)
“Steve, you froze against Caballero (Molitor was stopped in four rounds by Celestino Caballero in December of 2008), and you’ll freeze against me on March 27th. Mark my words.”
Devon Alexander Ready To Fight Anybody
Newly crowned WBC/IBF junior welterweight champion Devon Alexander “The Great” (20-0, 13KO) of St. Louis, MO, wants the world to know that he is willing to fight WBO junior welterweight champion Tim Bradley (25-0, 11KO) right now.
The undefeated Alexander captured his first title at the tender age of 22 when he stopped Junior Witter in August of last year.
“We want the best fights out there, period. We agree that Devon Alexander and Tim Bradley are the best junior welterweights in the world,” Alexander’s trainer, Kevin Cunningham, recently eloquently stated. “There is no reason they shouldn’t fight each other. Tim Bradley is fighting some no name in a tune up for his HBO debut in June. Team Alexander doesn’t need a tune up. Tim Bradley can be our tune up.”
Alexander, who will be returning to the ring in June after recently capturing the IBF version of the title with a devastating 8th round knock out of Juan Urango, would like nothing more if his return was a unification bout against Bradley.
“Team Alexander is willing to fight anybody. We want to make the fans happy by fighting the fights they want to see,” Cunningham said in closing. “We want all the titles. We are in the belt collecting business.”
Undefeated Heavyweight Contender David Rodriguez is ready to showcase his talents on Eric Morales’s “The Champion Returns” Extravaganza
This Saturday night from Monterrey , Mexico , live on PPV, the fight world will witness the return of the former seven time world champion Eric Morales, as “El Terrible” takes on the heavy handed Jose Alfaro for the WBC Intercontinental welterweight title. But before the main event, rounding out the undercard will be the undefeated heavyweight contender David “Nino” Rodriguez 32-0 (30), who will be taking on the former Brazilian Olympian Daniel Bispo 22-12 (16) in a scheduled ten round heavyweight match-up.
Rodriguez, a native of El Paso , TX who is known for his power punching style, has knocked out thirty-of his thirty-two opponents, stopping twenty-four in the opening round. All though Rodriguez is not over looking Bispo, the #12 ranked heavyweight in the WBA wants the bigger names in the division, and believes fighting on the undercard of the Eric Morales bout will get him that recognition he needs, “It is an honor to fight under Eric Morales,” explains Rodriguez, “not only is he is a warrior, but I believe this is a great opportunity to showcase my talents.”
