CANASTOTA, NY –JUNE 8, 2010 – The International Boxing Hall of Fame announced today reigning, undefeated IBF super middleweight champion Lucian Bute will attend festivities planned for the 21st Annual Hall of Fame Induction Weekend set for June 10-13th. “Lucian Bute is one of boxing’s most exciting and fan friendly champions,” said Hall of Fame director Edward Brophy. “We’re looking forward to welcoming him back to Canastota..”
A native of Romania, Bute now lives and fights out of Montreal, Canada. He turned pro in 2003 and in 2007 he scored an 11th round TKO over Alejandro Berrio for the IBF super middleweight championship. Five successful defenses over William Joppy (TKO 10), Librado Andrade (W 12, KO 4), Fulgencio Zuniga (TKO 4) and most recently a 3rd round TKO over Edison Miranda. Bute’s pro record stands at 26-0 (21 KOs) with wins over Sakio Bika and Donny McCrary.
The June 10-13th Hall of Fame Induction Weekend will feature over 20 exciting events including a banquet, Madison Square Garden night, parade, golf tournament, cocktail party, and the official induction ceremony honoring the Class of 2010. Living inductees to be honored at the Official Induction Ceremony on Sunday, June 13th are light flyweight champion Jung-Koo Chang (South Korea), featherweight champion Danny “Little Red” Lopez (USA), manager Shelly Finkel (USA), referee / commissioner Larry Hazzard (USA), promoter Wilfried Sauerland (Germany), matchmaker Bruce Trampler (USA) and journalist Ed Schuyler (USA). Posthumous inductees will also be honored.
Over 40 boxing stars are scheduled to participate in weekend festivities. In addition to Bute, other stars slated to appear include Nino Benvenuti, Carmen Basilio, Tony DeMarco, Ken Norton, Aaron “The Hawk” Pryor, Angelo Dundee, Leon Spinks, Gerry Cooney, Lou Duva, Sergio Martinez, Robert Guerrero, Buddy McGirt and many others.

Cunningham to attend Hall of Fame Induction Weekend
Newly-crowned IBF Cruiserweight Champion Steve “USS” Cunningham will travel to Canastota, NY this weekend to attend the Hall of Fame Induction Festivities. The 33-year-old regained his old title last Saturday when he stopped Troy Ross in his first fight under the promotional banner of Team Sauerland. German promoter Wilfried Sauerland is among the “Class of 2010” alongside Jung-Koo Chang (South Korea), featherweight champion Danny “Little Red” Lopez (USA), manager Shelly Finkel (USA), referee / commissioner Larry Hazzard (USA), matchmaker Bruce Trampler (USA) and journalist Ed Schuyler (USA). “I am thrilled to return to Canastota,” Cunningham said. “There is nothing like the Hall of Fame Weekend. We will celebrate Mr. Sauerland´s induction and my victory over Ross in style before going back to the gym soon.”
WBO Cruiserweight Champion Marco “Captain” Huck will also travel from Germany to Canastota. Cunningham handed Huck his only loss to date, stopping him in the 12th round of their IBF Title fight in Germany in December 2007. Cunningham will be joined by his manager/wife Livvy.
