Enzo Maccarinelli says he feels like a fresh fighter now he has won the European cruiserweight title.
And the big punching Welshman is looking forward to knocking out challenger Alexander Frenkel on Frank Warren’s huge Magnificent Seven card on September 18 at the LG Arena, Birmingham..
The action-packed event will be a televised live and exclusive on Sky Box Office.
Maccarinelli faced had a tough time when he lost two consecutive fights by stoppage, but he’s bounced back in stunning style with three first round knockouts.
The last of those saw him halt Alexander Kotlobay in mere seconds in St Petersburg to lift the European crown.
And he says Frenkel – another Eastern European – will get more of the same.
“There was a time when I thought I might have to go to Germany to fight him,” said former WBO cruiserweight champion Maccarinelli.
“Fair play to Frank for bringing the fight to the UK, but I will beat Frenkel wherever we fight.
“The way I’m feeling at the moment, I don’t think anyone in the world can cope with my power.
“I had a bad run and I understand why people said I should retire. But I’m back to my best now. Something just clicked in the gym, and I’m knocking people out the way that I used to.
“I want to get this fight out of the way and then I’m going after a world title. I miss being a world champion and I’m desperate for my old belt back.
“Frenkel has got a great record on paper, and he’s got a very high KO percentage so it should be an exciting fight.
“But I’ve beaten far better fighters than he has. He’s been over-protected in Germany, and when he comes to England I will expose him.”
