Derek Chisora’s Trainer Says Wladimir Klitschko Is “Made” For Chisora, Claims He Will Stop The Champ Inside Seven-Rounds!

By James Slater – It really is beginning to look more and more as though 14-0 heavyweight Derek Chisora, the British and Commonwealth ruler, will be the next challenger for world champion Wladimir Klitschko. No, the fight has not been signed or made official yet (it is up as happening on Boxrec, however), but Chisora’s trainer has told Boxrec that his man will begin training today, and that when the fight takes place “Del Boy” will stop Klitschko inside seven-rounds and “shock the world!.”

It sure sounds as though Don Charles, the coach of Chisora, thinks the fight is going to happen; on Dec 11th in Germany.

Speaking with Boxrec, Charles sounds utterly assured his man will not only win the fight, but by stoppage.

“Leon Spinks won the heavyweight title after just eight fights so why not? Just like Leon, we are going to shock the world,” Charles said. “Klitschko is made for my boy, we will put him on the back foot. He is ready for the taking, he doesn’t like fighting. We will make him work.

“Derek gets turned on by bigger crowds. He wants to be the man and the centre of attention. We will stop him inside seven-rounds and shock the world!”

Chisora will be the centre of attention, certainly for at least a short while, if he faces the formidable Klitschko as it’s looking more and more like he will. But will the time the unbeaten 26-year-old spends in the spotlight be merely fleeting? Can we even suggest, in all seriousness, that a man with just 14 pro bouts under his belt can go in there and stop a primed and peaking heavyweight champion? Sure, Leon Spinks did the unthinkable with even less experience under his belt, but he went in with an ageing, less than properly trained Muhammad Ali. Klitschko is neither ageing, nor will he be anything other than in tip-top shape, as he always is.

Quite why Charles feels Wladimir is “ready for the taking,” I don’t know. Maybe he knows something I don’t. But if, and it’s surely a big if, Chisora CAN put Klitschko on the back foot as is the plan, then he will have some chance of scoring the monstrous upset. But can Chisora at 6’1.5” and approx 245-pounds to Klitschko’s 6’6.5” and approx 247-pounds – get past the Ukrainian’s sledgehammer of a left jab? Reach-wise, this may be where Chisora comes up most short – Wlad’s reach is 81,” the world be challenger’s is 74.”

Despite these physical disadvantages, along with the lack of world class experience his fighter has, Charles sounds almost adamant his man will pull it off.

“I have 100-precent belief,” Charles said with regards to Chisora winning in December. “I’m not a mug, it’s not about money, we don’t mind taking peanuts. It’s about becoming world champion. Derek is a complete fighter.

Needles to say, there will be one huge celebration in the world of British boxing if Charles turns out to be right!
