European lightweight champion John Murray is the star of a new music video for Manchester hip-hop sensation Skittles.
Unbeaten Murray, Frank Warren’s new signing, took time out of his training camp to help out his close friend.
Murray’s boxing skills are on show in the retro-style video for Tip-I-Cal-Ly, while he also judges a competition based on TV classic The Generation Game.
The track – released next month – has already had air-time on Radio One, and is being tipped as an underground smash hit.
“It’s Hollywood next for me!” joked Murray after a hectic day’s shooting.
“I loved doing it and it was nice to get a break from boxing because I’ve been in the hardest training camp of my life for the last six weeks.
“This song could viral, just like me.
“Once word of my next performance gets out, I’m going to be knocking on the door at world level.”
Murray will defend his European title against tough Spanish champion Karim El Ouazghari at the York Hall in London on April 2, live on Sky Sports 1HD
And he’s hoping the fight will lead to a world title showdown later this year.
“I’m a massive music fan of Skittles and he’s a good pal as well so I was right happy when he asked me to be in his video,” added the 26-year-old.
“We’ve always got the music pumping in the gym. You can’t beat a bit of a classic like Eye of the Tiger to train to, but I’ll listen to some tracks from Skittles when I’m working out as well.”
Skittles, aka Liam Kelly, added: “John has already conquered Britain and Europe and will be world lightweight champion. Having John appear in my video is a real honour.”
