A change of date was becoming very possible for the April 15 Cesar Seda, Jr. vs. Omar Narvaez WBO Super Flyweight Championship fight; however, a venue change has instead been made.
With the original site, Polideportivo Stadium in Buenos Aires, Argentina, no longer available, it has been moved to the “Estadio Osvaldo Casanova” Club Estudiantes de la Ciudad de Bahia Blanca, in Buenos Aires.
“This is good news because this could interrupt concentration for ‘Junito’ in this fight and this is the fight of his life. He has to be clear-minded to ensure his victory,” explains Ceda’s co-promoter, Javier Bustillo, President of Universal Promotions (along with Gary Shaw of Gary Shaw Productions).
For his part, Gary Shaw said, “This is very important to clarify because the boxer is focused on things he should not be focused on. All Cesar Seda has to think about now is boxing, boxing and more boxing. I’m sure he will bring that crown to Puerto Rico.”
“I’m really glad that this has been clarified. It didn’t bother me, but it’s good that everything is cleared up,” added Seda, Jr.
Seda will have his last pre weigh-in next Wednesday, April 6 at 4:00 pm in the Olympic Village in Salinas, Puerto Rico. The weigh-in will be followed with an open training session for all present.
Amidu vs. Revish New Main Event for April 9 Boxing Event at Horseshoe Casino
The main event has changed again for the Hitz Boxing Fight Night event on Saturday, April 9, at the Venue in the Horseshoe Casino, in Hammond, Indiana.
Yakubu “Black Mamba” Amidu (19-2-1, 16 KOs) will face Louisiana’s John Revish (10-2-2, 8 KOs) for the NABA-US Super Lightweight Title.
26-year-old Amidu’s only losses have come to current WBO champion Ricky Burns and multiple-time world championship challenger Ali Funeka. This will be Revish’s second consecutive title fight. He held capable veteran Jason Pires to a majority draw last March and even dropped him twice.
“This is shaping up to be a great fight between these two,” said Bobby Hitz, Founder of Hitz Boxing. “They can both punch and they’ve both been in with good opposition. Two solid pros going to war to see who can win this championship.”
The night’s undercard is packed with up-and-coming young contenders, mostly from the Chicago area.
Scheduled to appear are: Hammond’s own Ruben “Modern Day Warrior” Galvan (27-15-4, 10 KOs) in a welterweight match-up; Chicago middleweight Mike Kurzeja (4-0, 4 KOs); Chicago super middleweight Ninos Abraham (5-0, 2 KOs); Chicago heavyweight Dave Latoria (7-0, 3 KOs); Chicago junior lightweight Paulie Settepani making his pro debut; Chicago Junior Middleweight JOHN LEWUS (24-4-1, 20 KOs) and Chicago light welterweight Russell Fiore (4-0-1, 4 KOs) in separate bouts.

Adidas Boxing to sponsor Darren Barker
London fighter will wear the three stripes brand in European title fight
Matchroom Sport are delighted to announce that undefeated Middleweight champion Darren Barker has signed an endorsement deal with Adidas boxing.
Barker takes on Italian Domenico Spada for the vacant European belt on April 30 at London’s Olympia live on Sky Sports, and he will wear the iconic three stripes as he aims to claim the belt and take his winning run to 23 fights.
The 28 year-old recently joined Matchroom Sport and is targeting a World title shot by the end of 2011 and he is thrilled to be backed by the company who make the kit of his beloved Chelsea.
“It’s an honour to represent a brand like Adidas and I’m buzzing about using their apparel and equipment for training and in my fight with Spada,” said Barker. “The fact that they are Chelsea’s kit makers made this even more of a dream move for me!”
“Darren is one of the UK’s hottest properties right now and the association with Adidas will help propel his profile further as we push for major honours in 2011,” said Matchroom Sport’s managing director Eddie Hearn. “We are already in talks with several promoters about a World title shot this summer but all the focus right now is on Spada and taking the European crown.”
“We are delighted to be associated with Darren ahead of his European title shot,” said Andy Ross, general manager of Cimac, the official UK distributors of Adidas Boxing. “We don’t have a policy of signing fighters in the UK but when I got the call from Eddie and heard his exciting plans for Darren, we wanted to be a part of his quest to become World champion.”
Cimac have been supplying Martial Arts Products for over 36 years and are recognised as probably the largest supplier of Martial Arts and Boxing Products in Europe. The last few years especially has seen Cimac make substantial investments in the Adidas ranges of Boxing and Martial Arts.
