The boxing landscape can change faster than a New York Minute. Just last week, the heavyweight division looked abysmal with The Klitschko brothers and David Haye offering most of the excitement. Notwithstanding Hayes’s mouth, these three (unlike Samuel Peter, Chris Arreola, and Kevin Johnson), are always in shape and well-trained.
But all of a sudden, Robert Helenius chills Samuel Peter in a fight between two 6” “Nightmares,” and given his 6’6” height and15-0 record, he must now be given serious consideration as someone about to force his way into the mix.
With Tomasz Adamek set to give big Kevin McBride his last good payday and on course to fight Vitali in September, the tough Pole is also in the mix (for now). That makes five, but I need one more to make six, and I need your help to fill in the blank.
Dereck “Del-Boy” Chisora (14-0) comes to mind, and so does another ‘”Nightmare” named Chris Arrrola provided he can continue to get in better shape. In fact, an in-shape Arreola might have the fast attacking style to give Wlad some nightmares of his own. Then there is Atlas-trained Alexander Povetkin who seems reluctant to fight, Kevin Johnson, the infirmed Ruslan Chagaev, undefeated Dennis Boystov, Ivan Drago look alike Alexander Dimitrenko, “Fast” Eddie Chambers, Tony “The Tiger” Thompson who has won his last 4 by stoppage., and “The White Wolf,” albeit an injury prone wolf, Siarhei Liakhovich.
Others include Johnathon Banks, badly fading David Tua, undefeated Kubrat Pulev, Hamburg-based Manuel Charr, Steward-trained Tyson Fury, Bermne Stirvene, 41 year old Cedric Boswell, Oleh Platov, former football star Seth Michell, Jean Marc Mormeck and then, well there is just doesn’t seem to be anyone else. Perhaps Cubans Perez, Solis and Gomez, but……
