Lee (25 -1, 19KOs) used his long jab to effectively keep the durable Bunema (31-7-2, 17 KOs) at long range and in doing so comfortably won every round of the fight. The judges scores were 100-90, 100-90 and 100-90.

The Kronk fighter is honoured to win the NABF and NABA Middleweight Championship Titles tonight and now looks forward to perhaps another outing in July before a HBO date in the autumn.

Julio – Adjaho Final Press Conference Quotes

Brick City Grill – Newark, NJ, May 18, 2011 -Kathy Duva, Main Events, CEO: “It occurred to me that you hear a lot of stories the night after a fight that the main event was great but the under card was awful. Well our story today is that not just the main event is going to be great, but that the under card is going to be great too.”

“With a card like this we can concentrate on making every single fight matter. This show is a club show in the truest sense. It’s also going to be televised on ESPN. We have a lot of fighters on this undercard that have scored upsets. That’s what club shows are built on. Everybody on this card is bringing a lot of people to see them and that just adds to the excitement and makes it a lot more fun.”

“In the co-feature we have Sadam Ali vs. John Revish. The thing that strikes me about John is that he is the first person as far as I know, that has ever asked to fight Sadam Ali! Jolene (Mizzone)’s challenge every time we do one of these shows is finding someone who wants to fight Sadam Ali, because nobody seems to want to. Apparently John (Revish) called to ask for the fight and has trained for 5 weeks. Because Sadam’s opponents tend to fall out multiple times in a promotion, I don’t know if he’s ever fought anyone who knew about the fight more than about a week before. I feel this is going to be a terrific fight.”

John Revish (Sadam Ali Opponent): “The last two fights didn’t turn out the way I wanted them to, but I am here to win. I can’t lose this fight. It means too much to me right now. I’m ready to rumble and I’ll never back down. I’m ready for a war and everybody better expect to see some sparks fly.”

Sadam Ali: “I always come to fight but I’m even more excited now because I know that he (Revish) is coming to fight, so I’ve got to be ready. I’m ready mentally, I’m ready physically, I’m ready to go out there and do what I do best. He’s very hungry and he wants to take the win, but I’m hungry too. You guys are going to see a fight!”

Kathy Duva: “For the main event we had a great match made originally with Antwone Smith, and unfortunately Antwone was injured. Jolene (Mizzone) and Russell (Peltz) had to go out and find an opponent for Joel. After going through literally 10 people, people who wouldn’t take the fight, or people ESPN wouldn’t accept, they worked very hard and came up with Anges Adjaho. He’s a very tough fighter and ready for the challenge.”

Anges Adjaho: “I am thankful for the opportunity. Sometimes it’s hard to say exactly what I mean, but I know I am ready for this fight. People will be surprised.”

Kathy Duva: “Joel Julio has been a rising star in the world of boxing for quite some time. Joel turned pro after virtually no pro fights. He’s been working and moving up, coming up through the ranks in a very difficult weight division and fighting some very difficult fights. After 5 years of thinking it through, Joel has finally come to the conclusion that he should have stayed in the welterweight division. Joel is an exciting fighter and a great performer.”

Joel Julio: “I am in very good shape. I feel very good. I have worked hard with my trainers. It does not matter that he (Smith) could not fight me, I am ready to fight anybody.”

“I don’t want to talk too much – my hands talk for me! See you Friday night!”

WBO BOXING CHAMPION KALIESHA “WILD WILD” WEST RETURNS TO THE RING ON JUNE 18, 2011!

MORENO VALLEY, CA. – May 18, 2011, Considered by most boxing experts as one of the best female pound-for-pound fighters, World Boxing Organization (WBO) Bantamweight Champion, Kaliesha “Wild Wild” West (Moreno Valley, California, 13-1-2, 4 KOs), will defend her title on Saturday, June 18, 2011, at the Pico Rivera Sports Arena, in Pico Rivera, California. West’s title defense will be featured as the boxing main event on International Fight Showdown’s fight card, titled, “IFS8: Mass Destruction,” which also will feature top MMA and Muay Thai talent. The fight card is promoted by Red Scorpion Promotions. The opponent will be announced shortly.

Manager and trainer Juan West said, “I am pleased and honored that IFS has placed Kaliesha as the main event of their fight card. This is a great accomplishment for my daughter and for all female boxers across the United States. I’m sure Kaliesha will take advantage of this opportunity and shine. I am thankful that we were given such a great opportunity close to our home.” Kaliesha said, “I’ve been working really hard in the gym in preparation for my first title defense. I am ready to give my best performance for the people. It has been a while since I last fought, so I am ready to continue where I left off. I am looking forward to seeing all my friends, family and fans at my fight on June 18.”

West last fought on September 18, 2010, when she won the vacant Women’s WBO Bantamweight title on the under card of the Mosley-Mora Golden Boy Promotions PPV, by defeating Angel Gladney, via a seventh-round knockout. The fight took place at Staples Center in Los Angeles, California and was held during the Mexican Bicentennial Celebration.

Born in South Haven, Michigan, Kaliesha West began boxing at the age of ten. Her family relocated to Moreno Valley, California, and she became a decorated amateur boxing star, winning 98 amateur bouts, including the 2003 National Golden Gloves. She began her pro career in 2006, and since then, has earned the respect of boxing fans, other female fighters and the boxing media. Her father, Juan West, is her current trainer and has been her boxing manager since the beginning of her boxing career. Kaliesha said, “Since the beginning of my career, my dad has always handled the when, where, and with whom I fight. I just train for whatever is lined up next. I am thankful to have my father as my coach and manager, because I know he is looking out for my best interest.”

West, who is twenty-three years of age, recently returned from a lengthy layoff due to her involvement in a serious motor vehicle accident in early January 2011. Because of the accident, she sustained injuries and needed ample time to recover. Manager Juan West said, “I am anxious to see my daughter fight after her serious car accident. Kaliesha stated to me that because she survived a horrific car accident, when she steps into that ring, she does not fear death. I have noticed her sparring sessions have become more intense. She is actually looking more dangerous then she has in the past.”

IFS promoter and founder, Master Shawn Shilati, features the best of Muay Thai and MMA combined shows through IFS, and now moves into a new era by adding exciting boxer Kaliesha West to his show. Shilati said, “Bringing Kaliesha West to our card for a championship boxing bout adds to the IFS’ best of Muay Thai and MMA. The International Fight Showdown now brings you the best in the Sweet Science, The Science of Eight Limbs, and the Science of Ground and Stand Up fighting!”
