WASHINGTON, D.C. (July 11, 2011) UNITED BOXERS has announced a sensational seven bout card of the area’s most impressive world ranked contenders and prospects at the D.C. Star Nightclub on Saturday, July 16th.

Headlining the UNITED BOXERS event is a super middleweight showdown between Oxon Hill, Maryland’s Alexander ‘The Great” Johnson and hard-hitting, veteran “Neon” Keon Johnson.

Tall and rangy with power in both hands, the undefeated Alexander Johnson, 11-0-0 (4KO’s) is coming off his career best win, a ten round decision over previously undefeated Farah Ennis on April 2nd of this year in Atlantic City, New Jersey.

Fighting out of Indianapolis, Indiana, the 29-year-old Keon Johnson, a former Indiana Golden Gloves Champion, brings a record of 8-5-0 with three knockouts into the scheduled six rounder.

Co-featured at this UNITED BOXERS event is the return of all-action, undefeated welterweight prospect Emmanuel “The Tranzformer” Taylor in a six round bout against the always-tough Jose Angel Roman of St. Augustine, Florida.

Just 20 years old, Taylor continues to impress fans and media alike with his fast hands and world-class skills. In his last start on May 21st, Taylor dominated Marcus Brashears on his way to a unanimous decision victory.

Roman returns to the Baltimore/DC area, having gone to war with James Stevenson at the inaugural UNITED BOXERS event on April 15th at the Sportsplex in Millersville, Maryland.

Cruiserweights will also see action at the UNITED BOXERS event as Suitland, Maryland’s Venroy July will challenge Rayshawn Myers of Cleveland, Ohio, in a scheduled six rounder.

A native of St. Catherine, Jamaica, the undefeated July, 6-0-2 (2KO’s), battled Paul Jennette to a six round majority draw on April 23rd in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. The 28-year-old July opened his 2011 campaign with a four round shutout decision over Joe Rope on January 28th in Philadelphia.

Myers, 4-8-0 (3KO’s), has fought numerous cruiserweight prospects and should provide an excellent test for the less experienced July.

In a four round junior lightweight bout, newcomer Jerren Cochran of Alexandria, Virginia, will test D.C.’s Hugh Hinds.

Having relocated from Houston, Texas, the 20-year-old Cochran is making his first start in the Baltimore/D.C. area, having won his first two bouts by first round knockout in Texas.

Hinds lost his pro debut on June 5, 2009 in a four round battle with Tyrone Wright at the Shipley Arena in Westminster, Maryland.

In another four rounder, pro debuting Jacey Thompson of Washington, D.C. will battle North Carolina’s Tevin Parker, 0-2-0.

Huck unfazed by Garay comments

World Boxing Organization (WBO) Cruiserweight Champion Marco “Captain” Huck (32-1, 23 KOs) has refused to enter a dirty war of words with Hugo Hernan Garay (34-5, 18 KOs). After today´s press training, the 30-year-old Argentinian challenger shocked the journalists by predicting to “kill” his opponent on Saturday night. Huck would not comment on Garay´s harsh words. “I don´t care about his remarks,” he stated. “I will give my answer in the ring. With the support of my fans, I will make another exciting title defence. The belt remains in Germany! I will get married as world champion on July 30.”

Garay´s public work-out session was a short one which only featured some light shadow boxing. “We already know everything there is to know about him,” Huck´s coach Ulli Wegner said. “We have studied the tapes of his fights for hours. He is a strong and a very active fighter, so Marco needs to be on alert. Marco needs to stick to our game plan. Then he will leave the ring as the winner.”
