Just How Deep Is Pacquiao & Kimmel’s Love?

HOLLYWOOD, CALIF. (November 4, 2011) — Fighter of the Decade, eight-division world champion, and boxing’s No. 1 pound for pound fighter and box office attraction Congressman MANNY “PacMan” PACQUIAO took time from training for his upcoming defense of his World Boxing Organization (WBO) welterweight title against three-division world champion and Méxican icon Juan Manuel Márquez to make another boffo appearance on ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Thursday night. This was Pacquiao’s fifth consecutive appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! in as many world championship promotions, dating back to November 3, 2009 when he knocked out Miguel Cotto to claim the welterweight title. That 2009 appearance also marked Pacquiao’s U.S. network TV debut, which has since led to a multitude of network television, radio and magazine features, including, CBS’ 60 Minutes, ABC’s Good Morning America, FOX News Channel’s On The Record With Greta Van Susteren, CNN’s America Morning, NPR’s Morning Edition and Weekend Edition, Playboy, Sports Illustrated and cover stories in TIME and Newsweek.

Pacquiao’s first U.S. single, a remake of Dan Hill’s 1977 hit Sometimes When We Touch, sung with Dan Hill, spent four weeks in the Top-10 over the summer, peaking at No. 7. But even that doesn’t compare to what happened last night when Manny sang a duet of the Bee Gees hit, “How Deep Is Your Love,” with Kimmel himself!

Below, please find the clips from his appearance. You’ll laugh. You’ll cry. You’ll be totally enthralled.

“Tommy Gallagher Boxing: Winners Have Scars” To Host First Show November 17 at Schuetzen Park in North Bergen

NORTH BERGEN, N.J. (November 4, 2011) – Rich Komissar Promotions in association with Thomas Gallagher Productions are proud to announce the first installment of “Tommy Gallagher Boxing: Winners Have Scars,” which will take place Thursday, November 17 at Schuetzen Park in North Bergen, N.J.

The show, which marks the return of club show boxing to Hudson County, will feature North Bergen’s favorite son Danny “Little Mac” McDermott in the headlining spot against an opponent to be named in a special attraction light welterweight bout.

“I’m very excited to come back to North Bergen and start the next chapter of my career,” said McDermott, with a record of 8-3 (3 KO). “What better place to start the new chapter than fighting in a place than I’m familiar with?”

For McDermott, this bout marks the return to familiar territory for him, the site of many of his most memorable bouts. Six times McDermott has entered Schuetzen Park for battle, none of which were more dramatic or entertaining than his 2010 war with Brian Miller, which was named BoxRec.com’s Garden State Fight of the Year.

Aside from his one punch knockout of Floriano Pagliara in 2009, McDermott also lists his battle with crosstown rival Ricardo Rosas in among his best moments at the venue. McDermott was in top form that night, using his longer jab and boxing skills to cruise to a six round unanimous decision.

Also featured that night will be the American debut of undefeated Colombian cruiserweight Santander Silgado, who brings a record of 18-0 (16 KO). Silgado, who has fought in Argentina, Colombia, Germany and the Dominican Republic, now resides in New York City.

The rest of the card will be comprised of highly-competitive bouts featuring some of the New York/New Jersey area’s finest young talents. Fighters slated for the card include: light middleweight Boyd Melson (6-0, 3 KO) of White Plains, N.Y.; light welterweight Deano “Bad Newz” Burrell (2-1, 1 KO) of Brooklyn, N.Y.; lightweight Scott Burrell (3-1, 2 KO) of Brooklyn, N.Y.; middleweight Thomas Baldwin (2-0-1, 1 KO) of Newark, N.J.; plus more fights to be announced shortly.

Tickets, priced $100, $75 and $55, are on sale now and can be purchased at Global Boxing Gym in North Bergen (201-348-3149), Trinity Boxing Gym near Wall Street (212-374-9393), at Jack Demsey’s Pub in Midtown Manhattan (212-629-9899), at Gleason’s Gym in Brooklyn (718-797-2872 or by calling RKO Boxing at 908-240-2097.

Doors open at 6:30 PM, first bout is at 7:30 PM.
