Patrick Nielsen to fight for IBF Youth World Title in Herning on December 17
Patrick Nielsen will be getting the chance to make up for the disappointing finish of the Vild med dans final on December 17. The 20-year-old middleweight talent (11-0, 6 KOs) will be fighting Manuel Ernesti (10-1, 5 KOs) for the IBF Youth World Middleweight Title at the TV2 Fight Night in Herning. “That´s great news,” Nielsen said. “I have been dreaming of a world title fight ever since I started boxing. Now the time has finally come. I am ready to make it happen.”
Nielsen admitted that losing the VMD final has made him even more determined. “You know what, I hate losing and I hated the feeling when Claudia and I finished second,” he confessed. “It´s time to get back to winning ways. I will take out my frustration on Ernesti. He´ll be in for a hot dance in the truest sense of the word.”
Ernesti, 25, hails from Rome and is nicknamed “The Diamond”. He has won 10 of his 11 fights, five of them by the way of knock-out “This is another step up for Patrick,” promoter Nisse Sauerland said. “The IBF Youth Middleweight Title has a long tradition. A junior world champion is recognized around the boxing world, so winning the belt at the age of 20 would be massive for Patrick and also for Danish boxing.”
Sauerland warned that Nielsen needs to get the dancing out of his head. “He did well at VMD but now is the time to prove that he is a boxer and not a dancer,” he added. “Finishing second is a good experience for everybody and I much prefer our future star to make this experience on the dance rather than on the ring floor. Tasting defeat in the beautiful arms of his dancing partner beats tasting defeat at the hands of a rugged Italian. Things will get physical on December 17, and I am confident that Patrick will emerge victorious.”
