Danny McDermott To Headline “Tommy Gallagher’s Winners Have Scars” Show December 15 in North Bergen!
NORTH BERGEN, NEW JERSEY (December 9, 2011)—Rich Komissar Promotions is proud to announce the first installment of the “Tommy Gallagher’s Winners Have Scars” boxing series, which takes place Thursday, December 15 at Schuetzen Park in North Bergen, New Jersey.
The series aims to showcase local talent from the tri-state area in competitive, crowd-pleasing fights designed to separate the contenders from the pretenders.
In the headlining bout, popular junior welterweight Danny McDermott (8-3, 3 KO) of North Bergen, N.J., will face tough upset specialist Bryan Abraham (5-9-2, 5 KO) of Schenectady, N.Y., in a six round bout. McDermott, a local crowd favorite who routinely has the strongest crowd support on every show he appears on, will be facing his second opponent from Schenectady, with the last being Brian Miller whom upset McDermott by split-decision last year in what was the Garden State’s Fight of the Year.
Abraham, who drew with Miller in his pro debut, has taken the unbeaten records of highly-regarded prospects Johnathan Vazquez, Scotty Burrell and Dominic DeSanto, all by knockout.
McDermott is now training with Tommy Gallagher, the straight-shooting coach from The Contender reality series who helped guide Vito Antuofermo to the middleweight crown. McDermott and Gallagher work out at Gleason’s Gym in Brooklyn, and Gallagher has worked tirelessly to maximize the talent of the underachieving Irish-American warrior.
Also appearing in a six round lightweight bout, Floriano Pagliara (11-4-1, 6 KOs) of Brooklyn, N.Y., via Italy will take on Bryne Green (7-5, 3 KO) of Vineland, N.J. Pagliara he left his family in Italy to pursue his dream of becoming a world champion and holds a quality win over former N.J. standout amateur Antonio Espinoza, who was 11-0 at the time.
