MARTIN MURRAY has urged World Boxing Association (WBA) super world middleweight champion Felix Sturm to give him an immediate return.
The unbeaten St Helens man held the brilliant German to a draw in Mannheim last Friday, although most people believed Murray deserved the decision.
Honourable Sturm did offer Matthew Macklin a second chance when he narrowly defeated him, but Matthew snubbed that opportunity.
Murray, 29, is so desperate for another shot at Sturm he would even make another trip to Germany.
Martin said: “Sturm has proved himself to be a great champion, and a man everybody in boxing respects.
“After his controversial win over Macklin in the summer he offered a rematch, but was turned down.
“I like to think that Sturm will do the same to me. Unlike Macklin, I will accept and go to Germany once again.
“Although I believe the decision was wrong, myself and my team were treated with respect all week by Sturm, his team, German media and fans.”
Murray’s promoter Ricky Hatton is a big fan of Sturm who has now defended his crown 11 times during his second reign.
Hatton hopes to discuss a rematch with Sturm and is even considering asking the WBA to sanction another meeting after their first thriller.
The former two weight world champ added: “I have the upmost respect for Felix Sturm and, myself and Martin were grateful to be given a world title shot.
“But, I feel Felix will lose the respect of the boxing world if he doesn’t give Martin a rematch.”
Roy Jones & Max Alexander Makes Charity Bet
When Roy Jones Jr. and Max Alexander clash for the vacant Universal Boxing Organization™ Inter-Continental Cruiserweight title this Saturday at the Atlanta Civic Center, a lot more, and something more important, than a victory and the title will be at stake.
Jones (54-8, 40 KOs) has challenged Alexander (14-5-2, 2 KOs) to a friendly bet where the loser will donate 1000 meals to charity, and Alexander has accepted.
“Roy, where I come from it is not called a friendly bet”, said Alexander. “I don’t care if it’s doing back flips in the yard or wrestling roosters, I am all for it. So guess what, I accept the challenge. And you will be donating, so get your money right”.
Max Alexander is extremely confident ahead of his fight with the legendary former world champion, and has even told the promoters that he doesn’t need to get paid if he doesn’t win inside six rounds. Jones has also wowed to knock out Alexander, so it looks like both of them are aiming at getting the 1000 meals out to the needy as quick as possible.

Hall of Famer Al Benrstein Talks Ward-Froch
Showtime boxing analyst Al Bernstein, who has just been voted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame, will be ringside on Saturday, December 17th to announce the Super Six World Boxing Classic final between Andre Ward and Carl Froch on Showtime. Al is available for guest appearances and interviews this coming week to discuss both of these topics.
