One of boxing’s hardest punchers and most exciting warriors, Edison “Pantera” Miranda (35-6, 30 KOs), fresh off a sensational TKO win over WBO #7 light heavyweight Kariz Kariuki on Saturday night at Boardwalk Hall, Atlantic City, is already back in the gym looking and forward to his next bout.
“I felt really good in there. Probably the best I have felt in years,” said the energized Miranda. “I trained hard and was in great shape. Kariz hit me a few times, but I was able to walk right through them. I knew I could hurt him with the left and as soon as I saw the opportunity I took advantage of it.”
Miranda dropped Kariuki in round five with a devastating counter hook. Kariuki was able to get up, but never recovered. Shortly after, the fight was stopped by referee Allan Huggins.
With the victory, the Colombian slugger is sure to move up in the WBO rankings. The current WBO Champion, Nathan Cleverly, is currently without an opponent for his Feb 25 homecoming fight in Wales.
“Sure, I would love to fight him in his backyard. I have never turned down a challenge. I have a huge fan base in England and all over Europe. I’m back in the gym and it would be no problem for me to get ready for a title fight in February. It would give me great pleasure to fight in front of all those great fans and give them a night they will never forget.”
Ever the showman, Miranda also added: “Cleverly will feel stupid when I’m done with him.”
Until word of his next fight, the 31-year-old Miranda will stay in the gym and continue working hard. “I am ready for anyone.”

Landmark Promotions present ‘Put up or Shut up’ on Boxing Day
By Prince Dornu-Leiku: Boxing action returns to the Lebanon House in the heart of the Ghanaian capital Accra on Boxing Day December 26th when Landmark Promotions and Management Limited stage the ‘Put up or Shut up’ boxing show. Top of the bill is the clash for the vacant WBC International silver welterweight title featuring Ghana’s Patrick Allotey and Patrick Sou Toke of Burkina Faso.
Aside being namesakes, both boxers are unbeaten boasting a combined career record of 33-0, 22 KOs, setting the stage for a cracker in Accra on Boxing Day next Monday. Sou Toke has promised to beat the Ghanaian as Christmas gift for Burkinabes, but Allotey says no way.
This mouthwatering bill, ‘Put up or Shut up’ featuring a total of 8 bouts, is put together by Landmark Promotions and Management under the auspices of the Ghana Boxing Authority led by Samir captan. Sampson Boxing Congratulates Featherweight Sensation Javier Fortuna
Sampson Lewkowicz of Sampson Boxing wishes to congratulate his up-and-coming featherweight sensation Javier “El Abejon ” Fortuna (18-0, 13 KOs) for taking the biggest step of his young career in beating Juarez, Mexico’s former world title challenger Miguel Roman (38-8, 28 KOs).
Making the second defense of his World Boxing Council (WBC) Youth Intercontinental featherweight title at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino on Friday night, Fortuna dropped Roman in round one and then held off a late rally to win by unanimous decision (97-90, 96-91 and 96-92).
“He’s ready for an important television date now,” said Lewkowicz of the 22-year-old southpaw. “Javier is exciting and quick and powerful and he’s always in a great fight. I think with this victory over a tough opponent that has fought for a world title, he has graduated to the world-class level.”
In beating Roman, the IBF #12-rated Fortuna won his fifth fight of 2011 and snapped Roman’s four-fight winning streak.
“It was a very impressive showing against a determined veteran and Javier did a great job,” Lewkowicz continued. “He started very strong and didn’t fall apart when the other guy tried to come on. I think he has star qualities and he’s ready to jump into the mix at featherweight now.”
War at Woodland Hills Series Kicks Off 2012 Season January 20
Woodland Hills, California (December 21, 2011) – Following three successful shows in 2011, the WAR AT WOODLAND HILLS boxing series returns to the Warner Center Marriott on Friday, January 20,2012.
War at Woodland Hills 6 is scheduled to feature 11 professional bouts including a Light Heavyweight Title Bout between Hollywood’s Anatoliy Dudchenko (13-2) and East Los Angeles’ Alex Armenta (8-2). Dudchenko is riding a 10 fight win streak and returning to the same division where he fought as a member of the Ukrainian Olympic team. Armenta returned to the ring after a year layoff and captured a split decision victory over Benjamin Diaz (11-4) in his last fight.
The co-main event will feature the homecoming of Pitbull Boxing’s Cleotis “Mookie” Pendarvis (13-3-2). Pendarvis, a Los Angeles native, was a fixture on the local Southern California boxing scene for years. Pendarvis went 3-0 in 2011 while fighting in Texas, picking up two WBF titles in the process. War At Woodland Hills VI will mark the slick southpaw’s first fight in his hometown since 2009.
