Klitschko vs. Mormeck: How does Wladimir interest fans in this fight?

By Michael Collins: IBF/WBA/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko (53-3, 49 KO’s) will be looking to add another knockout to his resume against Jean Marc Mormeck (36-4, 22 KO’s) of France on March 3rd. This is kind of stay busy fight for Wladimir to relax, have fun and look to add his 50th knockout to his resume.

Mormeck, 5’9”, doesn’t look physically like he belongs in the heavyweight division and judging from how badly he struggled to pick up questionable wins over Vinny Maddalone, Fres Oquendo and Timur Ibragimov, he really doesn’t have much of a chance against Wladimir.

Wladimir has been doing most of the heavy lifting himself in trying to interest fans in the Mormeck fight, pointing to some of the quotes that Mormeck has made about wanting to crush his fragile chin. But Wladimir doesn’t look like he’s really concerned and you can’t blame him. Mormeck just doesn’t look like the average heavyweight challenger. He’s fighting more like a B class bottom feeder type of contender. It would have been much nicer had Wladimir at least waited before Mormeck had actually beaten a top contender before giving him a shot at his titles.

There’s no way Wladimir can make Mormeck look more than what he is because the resume just isn’t there for Mormeck. Since he was stopped in the 7th round by David Haye in 2007, Mormeck took two years off from boxing and then came back to beat three 2nd tier heavyweights by what a lot of boxing fans felt where three questionable wins. And here is now fighting for the title and Wladimir is stuck with him.

Mormeck is going to be fighting Wladimir in March and getting knocked out probably early, and that’s likely going to be the last time Mormeck gets a title shot unless he’s able to get one of the other heavyweight champions to show interest in fighting him based on wins over B level fighters.
