UK Boxing: Scotty Cardle; Ricky Burns; Paul Allison

Promoter Eddie Hearn has announced that Scotty Cardle will fight on three huge bills at the very beginning of his career.

The GB star will make his professional debut on the undercard of the Kell Brook vs. Mathew Hatton showdown at the Motorpoint Arena Sheffield on March 17, live on Sky Sports.

A month later he will be in the ring again on the undercard of Tony Bellew’s British light-heavyweight title defence against Danny McIntosh. ‘The Big Bang’, promoted by Coldwell Boxing in association with Eddie Hearn, is being held at the Echo Arena Liverpool, April 14, also live on Sky Sports.

Cardle will make his third professional appearance on the undercard of Carl Froch’s homecoming bout in Nottingham in May, the details of which are still to be confirmed. The busy schedule will be a fast and furious welcome to the paid ranks, but follows promoter Eddie Hearn’s philosophy that it’s important for young fighters to be as active as possible.

“I’m delighted to be able to add Scotty to these bills,” said Hearn. “I’ve got high hopes for him in the pro game and he’ll get a great taste of big British boxing nights in Sheffield, Liverpool and hopefully Nottingham.”

Cardle’s debut is part of a fantastic undercard for the Brook vs. Hatton showdown which features a second Commonwealth super bantamweight title defence for Carl Frampton, Greg Proksa’s first defence of his European middleweight title against Kerry Hope and former British welterweight champion Lee Purdy aiming to get back on track against Nottingham’s Adnan Amar.

Exciting middleweight prospect John Ryder hopes to take his unbeaten record into double figures against Huddersfield danger man Alastair Warren who fought for the WBC Youth World title in 2010. Eamonn O’Kane makes his fourth pro appearance when he takes on Wayne Reed, while unbeaten Dudley middleweight Ryan Aston faces Barnsley’s Lee Noble and Sheffield Heavyweight David Howe also features.

Paul Allison Steps back into the ring

Dusting off the Mouthgard and wrapping his hands after nearly 9 months out, Stranraer’s Paul Allison (5-0) makes his long awaited return to the square ring on February 24th at Wishaw Sports Centre when he takes on Danny Brown over 6 x 2 rounds.

Injury has kept the Orthodox Allison, on the sidelines since a comprehensive 59-55 points win over Louis Byrne in May last year and he cant wait to get back into it “I cant wait to get back into the ring!” he proclaimed “For one reason or another its been too long since I beat Byrne. I have been itching to get back in the ring and take my record up to 6 wins ”

Previously the Stranraer fighter has made good use of the ferry link to Belfast, and has went over to the famous Breen gym for sparring “I am hoping to get over to Breens again. While I have been there in the past I have sparred the likes of European title contender Andy Murray amongst others. This was beneficial to myself and brought me on a bit as a fighter ”

While the Breen Gym has provided a good opportunity for Allison in the past, in the run up to the Brown fight, Allison has been training closer to home in Stranraer “The training is going well and my weight is looking spot on, because its my first time in the ring after a while im working on a bit of everything, with strong focus on roadwork”

Not wanting another year out Allison spells out his plans “I feel I have a lot of time to make up ,and ideally at the end of the year I would love to be 10-0 or there about it. This would put me in position to fight for a Scottish title or Masters title, but before I talk title’s though ive got to do the business against Danny Brown on Feb 24th”

Paul Allison takes part in a 6 fight card headlined by Eddie Doyle, who fights for the vacant British Masters Title .Tickets are priced £30 and £40 ringside and are available from the boxers, or calling 01698 338 888 also the venue is licensed.
