by Sylwester Jankowski: Promising light heavyweight contender Andrzej Fonfara (20-2, 11 KO) is awaiting his return to the ring which will take place on March 16th at UIC Pavillion in Chicago, Illinois. The 24-years old Pole, nicknamed “The Polish Prince”, will face American Byron Mitchell (29-9-1, 22 KO). 6’2 tall Fonfara is going to take advantage of his speed, long jab and footwork.
“My strategy for this fight is using a long jab and throwing left to the body. For sure I’ll be moving a lot. Mitchell’s reflex surely is not as good as before due to his age. You have to throw combinations instead of single punches and surprise your opponent” – Fonfara told BoxingNews.pl.
Chicago based Fonfara also told about his plans for the near future.
“Recently, I got an offer from [Nathan] Cleverly to face him in UK. I was ready to go there, because I could outplay him. His fight with Karpency showed that he does not have a really strong punch. I’m ready for big challenges, but I think is better if I do everything charily. I need 2 or 3 more fights to get experience and become a really strong fighter. Later this year or early next year I’d like to fight for a prestigious belt” – he added.
