Chris Arreola vs. Wladimir Klitschko Rumor

By Vitali Shaposhnikov: While there is very little doubt in Chris Arreola’s heart and ability to show his warrior spirit in the ring, he also clearly carries limited to no hesitation when it comes to self marketing.

In the following video, Arreola respectively talks about himself and the Klitschko brothers, touching on the fact that if his rumored fight with the younger Ukrainian champion Wladimir pushes through, he would undoubtedly win that fight.

Arreola tried to convince himself and the people watching this video, that boxing is all about “fighting,” which in his own mind, looks more like brawling. He criticizes the brothers for getting their job done in a not-so-entertaining or excessively cautious fashion, by jabbing and avoiding a fight.

News flash Mr. Arreola, historically boxing was never about brawling and showcasing one’s power in the ring. Technical fighters have always prevailed in the majority of given fights. Many legendary trainers have compared boxing to a game of chess, where strategy and the proper use of learned technique will contribute the most to a victory.

This was the first time that I have heard anything about a possible bout between Wladimir and Chris, but if indeed true, I would love to see that fight happen.

As far as what most people should expect from a fight like that, it is clear, at least to me, that what Vitali did to Arreola, would be accomplished by the younger brother in a much hastier fashion.

Arreola, while being a powerhouse with a more than a decent chin, doesn’t move enough to avoid being hit. When Wladimir lands his thundering right hand, or even more importantly peppers Chris with his exceptionally damaging jabs, the fight should not last long. Getting inside would be Arreola’s best and probably only shot, but with his lack of movement speed, and Wladimir’s cautions defensive style, Arreola will have to absorb numerous shots before coming within his own firing range.

Does this rumor have any ground? Has anyone else heard of any negotiations taking place?
