With just three days before their SHOWTIME World Championship Doubleheader, World Champions Abner Mares and Anselmo Moreno and their challengers, former Two-Time World Champion Eric Morel and bantamweight contender David de la Mora, worked out for the local media in El Paso, Texas, as they make their final preparations for this Saturday’s showdowns, live on SHOWTIME® (9:30 p.m. ET/PT, delayed on the West Coast) from the Don Haskins Center in El Paso.

Unbeaten former Bantamweight World Champion Mares (23-0-1, 13 KO’s), of Hawaiian Gardens, Calif. by way of Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico, will return to the 122-pound division for the first time since 2006 to face former Two-Time World Champion Morel (46-2, 23 KO’s), of Madison, Wis. by way of San Juan, Puerto Rico, for the vacant World Boxing Council (WBC) Super Bantamweight World Championship in the 12-round main event.
In a second world title fight, World Boxing Association (WBA) Bantamweight Super World Champion Moreno (32-2-1, 11 KO’s), of Panama City, Panama, will risk his crown for a 10th time when he faces Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico’s de la Mora (24-1, 17 KO’s) in the 12-round co-featured bout.
“Mares vs. Morel: Battle on the Border” is a 12-round fight for the vacant WBC Super Bantamweight World Championship set for Saturday, April 21 at UTEP’s Don Haskins Center in El Paso, Texas. The co-featured fights will see Anselmo “Chemito” Moreno vs. David de la Mora in a 12-round fight for Moreno’s WBA Bantamweight Super Championship. The event is presented by Golden Boy Promotions and sponsored by Corona and AT&T. The SHOWTIME Championship Boxing doubleheader airs live at 9:30 p.m. ET/PT (delayed on the West Coast). Sosa and Ocasio lightweight title fight, weigh in live at Chickie’s and Pete’s on Thursday night at 7PM
The camps are ready and the rematch for the USBC Lightweight title is on the line on Friday night at the National Guard Armory as Mak Boxing’s Angel Ocasio (6-0-1, 1KO) and Jason Sosa (4-1-2, 1KO) look to settle unfinished business in the long awaited eight round main event of Greg Robinson’s Power Productions “Philly Barnburner 3” professional boxing extravaganza.
The hard work is done and the two will face off one more time as they weigh in Thursday night at 6:30PM before a live audience at Chickie’s and Pete’s on the Roosevelt Boulevard. Come catch some fine food and get a glimpse of the fighters as they see the highly coveted USBC belt for the first time. Watch as the fighters step on the scales and go face to face for the last time before the long awaited showdown goes down.

New AIBA Women’s World Ranking revealed
Lausanne, Switzerland, 19 April 2012 – The International Boxing Association is very pleased to announce today its brand new Women’s World Ranking.
In a historic year for Women’s boxing, with the discipline making its debut at the Olympic Games in London, AIBA wanted to further promote the development of the sport by offering a points and performance based ranking system.

This very first edition includes the results at the AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships Barbados 2010, the AIBA Youth Women’s World Boxing Championships Antalya 2011, the European Women’s Boxing Championships Rotterdam 2011, the 2012 American Women’s Championships and the 2012 Asian Women’s Championships.
“Launching the AIBA Women’s World Ranking makes me really proud. I have always been convinced that the future of our sport will be led by Women’s participation.
