Cohen Congratulates Trout for Third Successful Defense

Greg Cohen of Greg Cohen Promotions wishes to congratulate his fighter, World Boxing Association (WBA) Super Welterweight Champion Austin “No Doubt” Trout (25-0, 14 KOs), for successfully defending his title for the third time, Saturday night, against Delvin Rodriguez.

Fighting as part of a Showtime-televised quadrupleheader at the Home Depot Center in Carson, California, Trout cruised to a unanimous decision (117-111, 118-110 and 120-108) over the surprisingly careful Rodriguez by staying busy and landing the cleaner shots throughout.

“I give Rodriguez credit,” said Cohen. “Austin trained for Delvin to come in trying to brawl and he surprised us all by boxing carefully, but Austin is a thoroughbred and adjusted accordingly to control the fight. I’ll never call a dominant unanimous decision anything less than a terrific result.”

Cohen says he’s now optimistic that negotiations with representatives of World Boxing Council (WBC) Champion Saul “Canelo” Alvarez for a fight between the two on September 15, at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas will continue to progress.

“Of course I want that fight!” exclaimed Trout. “I’m ready to go. Let’s do it!”
