by Rupiardi Mukkakakila: Four-belt heavyweight world champion has announced that he would like to fight David Price in his next title defence. The Ukrainian, nicknamed Dr. Ironfist due to his doctorate in sports science, is undefeated in his last fifteen fights and aims to make a sixteenth extension by squaring off man-to-man with Liverpool’s David Price. At this stage in the mystery Price is but a whisper; a rumour drifting from the cherry red lips of the Ukrainian champion. He has not said officially that he will fight price, but he has admitted that the prospect Price is a candidate.
Wladimir, whose favourite food is humous, was last seen earning an easy fourth round knockout win over Jean Mormeck, a former-cruiserweight champion who decided to dabble in the earthly delights of the heavyweight division. Another of Mr Klitschko’s opponents, David Haye, also rose from the cruiserweight division to join those big boys in the heavyweight division, and we all know how that ended.
By choosing a big boy like Price to fight next, Klitschko (57-3-0) aims to prove to his admirers that he can take on a real heavyweight. Price stands at 6’8” tall, and at such a loft stance he will be the biggest man Wladimir has had in his ring in years. The question is, will there be enough room for him? Many of Wladimir’s fans say yes – the world champion is good enough that physical advantages do not matter. I say that they do matter. It will take a lovely fighter to be able to get past the kind of reach that comes with a 6’8” fighter, and Wladimir Klitschko might find himself getting a reach around. If the two men do end up fighting, you can bet that it will be one of the most anticipated heavyweight fights in the last ten years, arguably even bigger than Klitschko – Haye.
Price, whose father starred in the UK sitcom Last of the Summer Wine, is rapidly gaining fame in Britain with some devastating knockout wins over John McDermott and Sam Sexton, fights that he won in such a powerful fashion that both men probably with they had stayed at home to play with their cats. An official announcement is expected in the coming weeks, but as it stands David Price is a strong contender to land a world title fight with the Ukrainian champion.
