Dibella wants fair judging for Chavez Jr-Lee on Saturday; Bernard vs. Lebron on 6/16; Dulorme-Herrera, Rosinksy-Pryor Jr. weights

New York, NY (6/13/12) – On Saturday, June 16, DiBella Entertainment-promoted middleweight contender “Irish” Andy Lee (28-1, 20 KOs) will challenge Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. (45-0-1-1NC, 31 KOs), for the World Boxing Council (WBC) middleweight championship, at the Sun Bowl in El Paso, Texas. At today’s final press conference, promoter Lou DiBella expressed supreme confidence in his fighter, but also called for fairness, in light of all the recent controversies that have afflicted boxing over the past few months.

“Andy Lee is both one of the finest gentlemen and most talented boxers in the sport. For both of these reasons, I am proud to be his promoter. Trained by the great Emanuel Steward, he will present Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. with the stiffest test of his career, a test that we at DBE do not believe he will pass. On Saturday night, there will be a new WBC middleweight champion of the world.

“In recent times, the sport of boxing has been plagued by inexplicable decisions, questionable judging and the appearance of possible impropriety. The greatest hope of Team Lee and DBE is that the fighter who truly wins on Saturday night gets his just rewards and not simply the consolation of a public that knows the truth. I fully believe that the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation shares this sentiment. We are confident that the athletic commission in Texas, the judges and the referee are fully aware and agree that the sport of boxing cannot take and does not deserve more unnecessary controversy.

“I want to thank Top Rank, Zanfer Promotions, HBO and, of course, Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. for this opportunity. See you all at the weigh-in.”

Undefeated Prospect Eudy Bernardo (11-0, 6 KOs) Returns This Saturday

June 13, 2012 – Undefeated lightweight prospect, Eudy Bernardo (11-0, 6 KOs), who hails from Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, and promoted by Boxing 360, makes his way back to the ring this Saturday June 16, 2012 in the Dominican Republic. He will face Alejandro Lebron (4-36-3, 3 KOs), a veteran of 44 fights.

“This will be my first fight of 2012 and I want to end it early,” said Bernanrdo. “I know Lebron doesn’t have the best record, but he’s got a lot of experience. Once I win this fight, I want to get right back in the ring and hopefully fight in the U.S. by the end of the year. My promoter Mario Yagobi said he will bring me to Miami to start training there after a few more fights.”

Said promoter Mario Yagobi, “Bernardo is another one of our fighters making noise outside of the United States. He’s got great boxing skills and I know once he comes to the States, he’ll get better training and sparring. The lightweight division is looking for the next star and I see Eudy making his way to that position. I’ll get him back in the ring as soon shortly after this fight.”
